I'm writing this part way through a three-week stay in stunning Fowey, which is nice, because I know we have many more lovely experiences to have at Haveners - our go-to bar and restaurant in this lovely town on the Cornish coast. So far, we've had dinner, lunch, morning coffee (twice - this is THE best coffee in all of Fowey, trust me! As for the blueberry muffins - yummy!), breakfast (absolutely the tastiest Eggs Benedict we've had in years, which is probably why we're going back for more this morning) and more drinks in the stylish bar than we'll ever remember - probably because we keep having 'just one more'! Talking of the bar, what a fabulous selection of drinks, from beers and lagers to spirits and some delicious wines, but particularly wanted to shout out the Espresso Martini from last night - my choice of 'dessert' because I was too full for one from the menu after a superb dinner of Salt & Pepper Squid and one of the specials, a spicy, packed full of flavour Chicken and Coconut curry with rice and poppadoms. I can't write a review of this brilliant bar and restaurant (a true 'haven') without shouting out the staff! Not only is everything excellent from the kitchen and bar, but there is such a lovely ambience (the buzz in the restaurant last night was a great vibe too) and friendliness from the lovely staff. Lee and his whole team make this a real destination venue! Luckily, we have a week left here, and I'm signing off now because we are heading to Haveners for another breakfast and one of those superb coffees... or two. Just lately, we keep having two each!

After a loud wedding was happening in a different hotel than we had booked we (a group of 5 of us) were walk ins at the restaurant. The service at first was a little slow, but once we had ordered it was attentive and friendly. They also stopped taking in walk ins shortly after us so they could focus on the customers that they have. There were some people turned away which was no doubt disappointing for them, but it meant the customers they did have were better looked after so was a good move. I had harrissa houmous as a starter (pictured), there was a very generous portion of that and it was delicious. Followed by a steak, also lovely and a brownie. Washed down with cocktails (dark and stormy, which was also good, but decidedly pale!). A friend had a Bailey's crème brûlée which she had noticed someone else's had 2 biscuits with, whereas hers had one. Clearly nothing to make a fuss about or even mention, but just as she had noticed a member of staff appeared with one in a little dish as one had slid off while she was carrying it over. It was a nice touch as I doubt anyone else would have even noticed and it was done with lovely humour too. The setting really makes it. The restaurant has a beautiful setting overlooking the harbour at Fowey. We were there as night fell and watching the boats bobbing about was idyllic.

I visited Havener's restaurant on Monday 14th August 2023. I originally called on the same day I ate at the restaurant, which was surprising as other restaurants were fully booked. When I first arrived with my family at the restaurant, the outdoor decorations were wonderful, and the location was outstanding because it was near the sea, which had made the restaurant's view even more great. When me and my family had first entered, we were welcomed with a smile, and the staff was very polite and had a welcoming manner. The service was quick as when we entered was first offered a table and had been offered drinks which we ordered. The menu was shortly given, after which me and my family had ordered starters and mains from. Very shortly after we received our starters, which tasted absolutely delicious, the calamari tasted splendid, and I personally ordered mussels, which had a delicious garlic taste and the portion was fantastic for starters, we also ordered padron peppers which was tasty and had a lovely salty taste. My family and I then ordered main courses, which I ordered a burger, the burger was tasty and had a lovely sauce and was given a generous amount of chips. Overall, I couldn't be more happy with the service we received and would happily recommend the restaurant to anyone.

A great stay at the Havener's apartment. The location is as central as you can be with fantastic views across to Polruan. The apartment was very spacious and clean. The apartment comes well equipped with appliances and kitchen ware, even a coffee machine and complimentary pods.

The restaurant is lovely, we had dinner and breakfast during our stay. The staff are very helpful, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food is always delicious. If you don't fancy to eating throughout the day the restaurant is in a lovely position to have a drink with views across to Polruan.

A couple of notes about the apartment stay is to be wary of is the noise from below at Havener's, their extraction units are very loud throughout the day and up until closing time. We also encountered the staff or the chef getting in at 6am most days to get ready for opening, they would put on the restaurants sound system with their music which can be heard clearly from the master bedroom. We found it a little amusing initially but if your not an early riser and a light sleeper... be warned! You do get some complimentary ear plugs with your towels on arrival which is most likely off the back of the other reviews saying the same thing. If it wasn't for this our stay would have been 5/5. Would I come back? Yes, if I saw the apartment at a reasonable price. If you are sensitive to noise I would book somewhere along the Esplanade where its very quite. Constructive notes: The terrace entrance gate could do with a private sign on for the apartment and perhaps a latch bolt, we encountered a couple of nosey neighbours walk on to the terrace and looking through the windows (again mildly amusing). And finally the terrace furniture...

Wonderful evening, wonderful hosts, delicious food and great atmosphere – truly extra special There are some places that are extra special, and Haveners is one of them. Beginning with the location and views and the really well restored historic building. But what really makes this place is the excellent people who run it. Each member of the team is a genuine and lovely person, welcoming, knowledgeable with a great mix of skills and experience – front of house, chefs, management, housekeeping - true hospitality professionals. We had a wonderful evening for a big family and friends do. The food was local, delicious, tasty and beautifully presented. The team worked with us very carefully beforehand to produce an excellent menu. With adaptations for special diets and food intolerances. Everything was delicious so, beautifully prepared and presented.

Service was very well managed and all dishes came in good time. We had starters of hummous, crab, or chicken liver parfait, mains of brisket, luxury fish pie or nut roast. And afters of profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding or cheese board. It was a truly magical evening and we were so happy to be here. We came back on Sunday to follow up with some drinks and lunch. Some of our guests stayed over for the weekend and were very well looked after. We are so grateful to our wonderful hosts at Haveners. We will be back again and again!!! Thank you so much.

The rooms are so beautifully decorated, great for a short or long stay.

If there us an award for teams and venues, then we recommend the people at Haveners for the highest....
