Last night I had a rather different experience than I was expecting.......... 4 pints in, I left my second home (don’t tell Jeremy!) jumped in the range and headed down the trull road to Taunton , my meeting was cancelled and I needed to eat , I fancied something hearty so on the drive down I researched the web and could not resist the temptation of a juicy burger! however I was shocked to see that st James st was closed?! Where can I park?’ I usually park in middle St and have no issues but I had to go around the town centre and double back, hey ho that’s life I thought and just whizzed down east reach to cut back round to Morrison’s instead..... all was fine until I was driving toward the cricket ground and saw a huge bright light...I looked into my rear view mirror and saw nothing behind so I stopped ...minutes passed and I couldn’t see a thing except this bright light .....I got out the range and dropped to my knees in ore of what I saw...the brightest light I’ve ever seen beaming down on me ....a tall thin shadow looking down at me ...not human ....I felt overwhelmed with emotion as I lifted up towards this light , feeling free of all pressure ....moments later I heard a crashing sound as some idiot in an ambulance rear ended the range......complete right off! I managed to claim the money off the national health service as the ambulance didn’t have their lights on and the bright lights I saw were the bloody cricket ground floodlights! Bloody eyesore .....I eventually made it to hubbox and had a cracking meal (all be it 3 days after I’d left the house and now sporting a beard!) with great service, the selection of drinks were fantastic ! I tried all the European lagers and I later went home...
Read moreI’m sorry to say that yet again I’ve been left highly disappointed with the food. I’ve been a customer here for a few years and have always enjoyed it until I had a very poor takeaway experience a few months ago (which was rectified the next time I visited ). Since then, I’ve given the restaurant another two chances and have been let down on both, and unfortunately this visit will likely be my last.
It’s never about the service, the staff are always polite. I came with my 81-year-old mum, who really wanted to dine here, and of course I wanted her to have a nice lunch. When I ordered, I specifically asked if the fries could be freshly cooked, and the server acknowledged my request. However, when our meals arrived, the fries looked as though they had been sitting out for some time and were actually cold. We were then brought replacements which did appear freshly cooked and were hot, but by that time the rest of our meals were nearly consumed.
The part that really disappointed me is that when my mum paid, she was charged full price which included the two portions of fries that were served cold initially. Nobody apologised, nobody checked in to ask if everything was okay, and it was as though nothing had happened.
I don’t like to be a “moaning customer,” but after repeated letdowns, I feel we’ll have to find somewhere else to go...
Read moreFirst impressions for new customers should be much better than my experience. I ordered 'click & collect' with a selected time for collection. I arrived at the time given, and was told my order would be another 5 minutes. No big deal, I had a beer while I waited. Or perhaps a deliberate ploy to get an extra sale. 15 minutes later I'm still waiting. I chase it up, and after a further few minutes I get my order. Very little on the way of meaningful apologies for the delay. Restaurant barely half full and only one other collect/delivery order waiting to go.
I get home to discover I'm missing an item. I call back and I'm partially refunded. That gets an extra star for good customer service, but they had plenty of time to check the order was correct prior to bagging it, sealing the bags and handing it to me. It shouldn't be behoven of the customer to break seals to check they've got everything before leaving.
The food received was okay, not outstanding. Not good enough for me to be a repeat customer or to recommend.
I also wouldn't recommend the restaurant for dining there, if the music volume I experienced was the norm. Customers shouldn't need to raise their voices to be heard by staff.
The overall review is 2 stars. Would've been 1 star but for the no quibble partial refund for missing an item...
