We visited the restaurant at 6:45 PM on a weekday. We arrived with our two little children starving and asked at the door if we could have dinner. The lovely gentleman told us we still had time to order and we had to sit at the table and call for the waiter. We called for one at least 5 times and before 7 the waiter said he'll come in a minute. At 7:09, the waiter comes to the table telling us that the kitchen closed at 7 and we should have been told at the door!!! He then said he will see what he can do, but kept on serving other tables, leaving us there waiting basically ignoring us. We then asked to speak with the manager and the woman not only was unhelpful, but she said there was nothing they could do, they closed the kitchen and run out of food! She did not care about which waiter was unprofessional, she did not care about us leaving disappointed and our children hungry and she was yelling at us while leaving because I told the waiter myself that he was unprofessional! We've never ever had such a bad experience in a restaurant before and wish I would have trusted the food reviews suggesting the food is quite poor there. Instead we ended up at Hubbox in the corner across the street and actually had one of THE most amazing burgers I've ever had in my whole life!
I am sorry to say Mambo is NOT a family place, probably is intended for young people only who are seeking to have a drink really. I just feel it's such a shame for the owner to have such a bad management and maybe they even have no clue... Mambo is supposed to support NHS, which my husband is working with, but apparently some NHS workers can be yelled at and receive rudeness and ignorance!
I am a person who appreciates honesty and if that manager would have tried to apologise and solve the situation by doing something about it, there would be nothing more I could ask for. Instead she chose to ignore us and try to get away from the issue as fast as she could.
That's some very very bad managing and such a waste for the business. That young lady obviously has had 0 experience in the past, but who knows, we can only hope for the...
Read moreThis place is one of the worst night clubs I have ever been too. Visited this weekend. A ridiculous fee of £6 each to get in, you certainly are not paying for anything special. A very strangely laid out place, over priced drinks, dirty floors. The state of the ladies toilets on Saturday night were horrendous. 4 overflowing filthy toilets, one cubicle had a used tampon swimming on the top, one poo, and the others water & pee overflowing. Why this wasn't shut down I do not know!! I reported the overflowing toilets to the bouncer, & saw many other women disgusted when they walked straight back out of the loo after entering. We sat outside for a bit to have a drink in the garden, the toilets were not shut for another hour, (& I tell you what I have nothing to say about some of the women that continued to use the overflowing toilets 🤮) There was another set of loos that were just about clean enough to use hidden on the bottom floor, thank goodness. Then the bouncer finally guards the door and stops allowing people in, well that was until he got bored and went off to chat at the bar so more women had to endure the poor hygiene of this place. Why on earth not put an OUT OF ORDER sign on them. I very much doubt this was a one off. You need to be extremely drunk to enter this nightclub to believe it's any good. If that's is their hygiene standards I would worry about going home with more than a hangover, more likely to get sick with gastroenteritis from the cleanliness...
Read moreIt's not the greatest. They've done well outside with seating, screens, generally a nice area to be. But inside stinks, toilets are dilapidated and rarely cleaned; but the worst thing of all is they often refuse to take Android and Apple pay payments due to the managers / owners being uneducated on the topic.
The reason I was given, is that if it is declined, the customer will say "well my phone says it went through" and argue the toss until they're given the drinks or the drinks are poured away.
However, if your staff just give them the receipt saying it's declined, if they do happen to get charged twice (unlikely if your card terminal says declined) well then they can go to their bank, can't they.
A mobile payment is EXACTLY the same as a contactless card payment, and you accept them freely.
Stop making things difficult, the only time I ever carry my card lately is if I'm going to Mambo and know I may face an issue with your owners/management, failing to train people properly and being refused service after you've poured a drink.
Really, I've never known ANYWHERE with a contactless payment terminal, refuse service just because of lack of understanding the system.
If you're happy to refuse the business and lose money, well good you must be doing well, but wait until mobile payments are even more common than they are now and see which direction your business goes in because you're refusing...
