Island View Cafe — Restaurant in England

My wife & I stopped off for some lunch and the place look very clean and well supported as usual by the visitors today 17th May 14.

We ordered our lunch and returned to our table and waited, Our drinks arrived One hot coffee for me and a cold Coke for my wife. The coffee was COLD! I spoke to the young child who brought our food to my table, I informed her that the coffee she had just handed me was COLD. Her answer was OH! and she turned and walked away. About 10 minutes later the owner, I think walked over to our table and said I understand your coffee was cold. We had just started to eat our lunch I tried to swallow what I had eaten and answered her, I said yes! she said i can't understand why. I said it was so cold my sugar did not dissolve... She turned on her heals and just walked away.

She made no effort what so ever to address the problem, The staff she had working for her must have been about 14 years old and just did not know what to do, having just been questioned by the duty manager / Owner I now understand why ! The service was CRAP.. the way the owner / manager dealt with me was appalling. The lunch we had was great could not fail the food, HOT & very edible

All she had to do was replace my cold drink for a hot one. For that reason I would not recommend this Cafe. All fine until you complain and they just walk away. What makes me mad is the fact that she has done this to someone that has been using the cafe for a long time and lives local. They need to look after the people that support her business, I am not saying Look after me because I am a local. I am saying take care of the customer if he/she reports a problem deal with it, Don't turn your back on them and walk away thinking they will never come back so forget them. . For that I will not be coming back to your cafe again, I hope others that have used your establishment do the same, you must look after your customers if you don't the cafe will close like many others before yours. And FINALLY as you turned away from me after doing nothing to replace my cold coffee A family of four turned to me and said " You will get no satisfaction from her!"

Absolutely disgusting experience today here. Was basically harangued by one member of staff. I went there with my best friend, 3 yr old son & 12 week old daughter. As expected with a small cafe there is no toilet facilities. My daughter was wet & needed changing & I was advised by the woman to go behind the tent which I did & proceeded to change my daughter. The woman then followed me around and said that I should be at the side of the tent & was in the wrong place. I was in the midst of changing my baby & was more than a little frustrated with her as she had shown a ban attitude & zero customer service since we had arrived. I was then approached by a male member of staff whilst sat at an outside table with my friend. He advised me that it wouldn’t have mattered if I’d changed the baby beside me on the bench, that it had been busy & they were all stressed out & tired. He then proceeded to tell me that they were not a child friendly place & never pretended to be as all meals were adult, even though they had highchairs in the cafe & a few toys but that children weren’t really welcome. Myself & my friend had also observed a child’s meal on the menu. I was then given my meal of a very mediocre cheese salad, by which time I was really upset & didn’t have much of an appetite. This episode made it so my friend & I experienced no enjoyment whatsoever. There’s a sign there saying that dogs are welcome, but we’ve been informed that children aren’t! My friend has relatives living in Looe & I’m sure they will make other residents aware of our experience. All in all the customer service was absolutely abysmal & the attitude of staff there absolutely disgusting! So be aware, children aren’t welcome there even if they are too young to run around or well behaved as my 3 yr old was. Totally ruined what we had wanted to be a lovely day....

We came for lunch & drinks, it is now under new management, the menu is limited especially if you like simple things (I am aware that's personal preference). We had a warm welcome by one young lady & was given menus however it was very much felt like they wanted you to sit outside rather than inside. Menu not overally clear ordered Banana milkshake which came warm with cream (not in description a waste if people have allergies you don't expect cream on milkshake). Ordered iced latte and was brought a hot one explained that I had ordered Iced latte and server gave no apology making me feel like it was my issue. Ordered kids sausage and chips for my pensioner mum, was told that she couldn't have it as only kids meals served to under 12s.... spoke to another young lady who didn't have a problem with it.

Whilst we were sat there all you could hear was the manager (I assume) moaning about ensuring people had menus, go outside give menus, do this and that.... whilst I appreciate you want to give good service your customers dont want to hear it when we are trying to have lunch. You could of spoken to your staff away from customers.
