We have just returned home from another brilliant stay at The Jolly. From the minute we arrived, everyone was so welcoming and made us feel as though it was our own local. The team at The Jolly always made sure that we had everything we needed and always made time to chat and give advice. The rooms are all different and have a unique charm. They are extremely clean and tidy and are serviced regularly, or on request. This is a family run pub, and this adds to the charm and creates the friendliness that is afforded to every customer. Staff and locals alike make all guests feel like they are in there own local. While there are many good places to eat in Looe, there are also plenty of delicious options to eat in The Jolly. In particular, the delicious Sunday Roast is a must. Breakfast was superb with such a varied choice. The food is always freshly prepared and cooked to order, with more toast, coffee etc available if you need more. The hosts, Zoe and Garry have never failed to impress us on our previous stays, making us feel so welcome and always making time for a chat. They will go above and beyond to make sure that their guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay. At the end of this holiday, they showed real friendliness towards us when our car failed to start to get us home. Zoe rang around several of her friends to help and Garry drove back from where he was to look at the car himself. When we eventually got the car roadworthy, it was too late to make our journey home but Zoe and Garry arranged to let us have a room for the night at short notice. We cannot praise them enough, and we would highly recommend The Jolly Sailor for your stay if you are planning to come to Looe for a holiday. We will definitely...
Read moreA really beautiful place . Had a drink in there one and the manager was very friendly telling us the history . The hook near the bar was for hoisting stock up and down through trap door not holding drunks up .We went back this evening for food as told it was nice and was really looking forward to it . I don't know who was cooking but paid around £30 or more and it was the worst meal we have eaten while on holiday in Looe . DO NOT ask for the creamy pasta . It tasted powdery like they had just whisked up I was expecting creamy sauce or Carbanara sauce then prob warmed chicken bits and a few bits of pasta up and thrown in dish ,absolutely disgusting taste . I can cook better then the Chicken burger and chips just as bad . Over fried crispy chips and same with frozen southern fried chicken . Rock hard and tasteless dry bun very unappealing . We both left half of it ,had to try eat a bit as hungry though we went and got other food afterwards . Told barman but never got much back saying oh sorry . Very disappointing . Overpriced for rubbish food just not worth what we paid . The building though is lovely . Ok for a drink but not the...
Read moreInitially it was a nice pub with convivial staff and the beer was good, I ordered my 2nd beer and our food at about 5.20 pm unfortunately there was a complete change of staff about 6pm I had heard a ring or chime which is normally the signal to tell the serving staff that food is ready for serving, again unfortunately the staff were hanging around the bar area twiddling their thumbs so I thought perhaps I'd made a mistake, at about 6 15 I thought it's been nearly an hour and no-one else had ordered food I'd better enquire, just then the food arrived... the plates were cold, the food was lukewarm the chips were cold and tough and the chicken was even tougher, my partners chilli was for want of a better word chilly we left most of it , I approached a bar person and told her in no uncertain terms that the food was terrible and if anyone had bothered to come over and asked if the food was okay I would have told them, I walked out seething at the total uncaring and lack of professionalism of what could have been a better outcome if more...
