Love the atmosphere here, great for a harbour drink, views great! 1st time experience lovely.
However 2nd time not great, share fries ordered with food came 1st. Offered a re heat. Who offers re heat on fries?
Ordered onions rings with food came 5 mins after. Burger (also bland)eaten during this time. Sorry to say I did not eat fries or onion rings tasted like a doughnut š©! We were told āoh weāve added a couple of extra onion ringsā. When discussing my feedback 1st hostess lovely couldnāt be more apologetic.
However the manager refused to refund the chips when I explained as a customer offering a reheat on fries isnāt ideal. An offer of a fresh bowl is good customer service. I was told I will refund you the onion rings not the chips. Not good enough, told Iāll add the wine on top up. I simply replied thatās not what Iām asking please keep to the measurement. Iām asking for a refund on chips and onion rings, I was told no. To add my first time visiting the waitress said she was told by her manager to get rid of the Sauvignon blanc oyster bay get rid. Lovely customer service right there!
Overall loved the 1st time, 2nd time disappointing. Was told hope you come again, sadly not at this point.
My last night being in Torquay not the best meal wise. However loved the area. Thank you Jacks for making us realise we wonāt be coming back to you. If in doubt pay extra and go Harbour 16 or offshore. I promise you wonāt be disappointed. :) Apologise for the long review but worth the read.
FURTHER UPDATE Suffered stomach cramps the same day followed by several visits to the toilets. Hope a food inspection is due because my goodness, I do believe they need one!

Oh how an opinion can change in the space of a couple of days. Called in for a meal on the last night of our stay and ordered the same meals that we had enjoyed only 2 nights earlier. Firstly when our drinks were served the wife found that there was lipstick on her wine glass, which was changed (eventually). When the food was served my wife's meal was far from enjoyable (even though it was the exact same meal that she had enjoyed on the previous visit. The staff member took away the plate and said they'd have a look at it! After 10 mins he came back and apologised and offered an alternative meal. This was declined as the rest of us had already finished eating and we asked for a refund. This was eventually given but felt like it was given begrudgingly. As we were leaving there was a suspicious looking character sitting on a motorbike outside of the premises who was clearly shouting into his mobile to someone to come outside and meet him. We watched as the chef from Jack's came out from the kitchen and headed down the road where the geezer on the motorbike then met him and they clearly and quite openly conducted a transaction where cash and "goods" openly changed hands. As the chef headed back to the restaurant the guy on the motorbike mocked him, shouting " you're in trouble now mate, they've all been watching you" - gesturing towards the other members of staff that were outside and looking down the street to see what was cracking off. So in summary, not a place where I would eat again or recommend to anyone with a 2 year old in tow. And to think a junky chef cooked our meals makes me want to throw up. Avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read more1 star only given after a heated discussion with the so called chef.We ordered a combo meal for 2 the usual fare from a place like this chicken/corn/ribs etc. So no great expectations as we wanted a quick meal.the meal came reasonably quickly but when we started to eat the ribs were completely cold.Laid aside hot chicken wings etc not ideal.I simply informed the girl who served us.Then waited and waited all the while the rest of our meal going cold as well.I then asked what was happening the girl replied she would find out.Next thing the chef lol dressed in his day clothes came to our table to ask what the complaint was.He then told me he had probed the meal with his temp probe and all was good.He was doing some more! So we wait again with our meal still in front of us for another few minutes.So we lost patience and asked the waitress for our money back and we would move on.Then the chef lol was at the bar in a very argumentive way denying he had served us cold food and had some more ready which he was probing.Not wishing to have any further discussion with chef lol I asked for our money back.Chef lol refused,our server girl refused because she hadnāt the authority to do so at which point another server asked what the problem was then owned up to being somewhat in charge at the moment.Anyway full refund was refused unless we came back the next day to see the manager.An offer of Ā£10 pound plus 2 free drinks was made and accepted as we were unable to return the following day.T o summarise I thought this kind of service even at this level of dining was a thing of the past.Visit Jacks Waterfront bar Torquay to eat at your...
