Java Coffee Shop — Restaurant in England

This was probably the worst coffee experience I've had to date. My partner and I came in, holding sandwiches and asked if we could have a tea and coffee upstairs.

Whilst we were sat down, I took one bite of my sandwich as I was starving. A woman then came striding up towards me and shouted at me for the entire cafe to hear "YOU CANT EAT YOUR OWN FOOD HERE!!" Both embarrassing myself and my partner and making us incredibly uncomfortable.

Customers around us all stared, making us feel even more anxious and feeling incredibly unwelcome like we had done the the worst thing imaginable.

Both my partner and I are neurodivergent, and found the way we were spoken to was incredibly rude and triggering. It ruined what was a lovely day.

I suggest the staff learn how to speak to customers and show some awareness that not everyone is able mind.

I was going to speak to the woman who screamed at me, but I felt so upset I left my order and went and sat in the car....

Great coffee shop in the heart of Keswick. Famous for the chocolate fountain goodies on offer which include chocolate fountain dipped cookies and fruit and marshmallow kebabs. The famouse chocolate shot of pure melted chocolate in a chocolate shot cup is a fantastic indulgence and a great photo op. Also a tempting array of cakes and pastries. The hot drinks are exceptional. Particularly work a closer inspection is the various speciality hot chocolates. Seating in short supply so grab one before you order at the counter. Take away is of course available but the sit down interior is welcoming and cozy and a perfect place to pause to decide were to next in Keswick. Great views over the square and onto moot hall another good area for a photo op. Well worth a visit when...

Visited 2 days in a row - ordered the Nutella Hot Chocolate on the 1st day because it was quite cold out. It was amazing, hands down the best hot chocolate that I’ve had, and the portion was super generous! On the 2nd day, I couldn’t resist when passing by again and decided to try a cold drink this time, the Summer Cooler, as it was a sunny day. It did not disappoint again!

Just one thing - I also purchased some coffee beans as a gift, but upon checking it when I got home, I realized that they had been expired since Nov 2022. That said, I rang the shop and they were very apologetic and gave me a refund. So do look out if you want to purchase anything off the shelves.

But overall, still a great experience. Can’t wait for my next visit to try the other drinks...
