A very popular place to visit in Keswick by every person and their dogs! It is a beautiful setting with a nice grassy area for picnicking leading down to the shores of Derwent Water. Part of the park also incorporates a garden to enjoy with crazy golf, putting green, pitch and putt and radio controlled model boats. There is a small cafe kiosk and plenty of benches to sit on and watch the world go by, including the brave paddle boarders and swimmers. On nice days in high season it can get extremely busy. There is a vast Pay and Display lakeside car park near by to accommodate the many visitors but on busy days you may be a while seeking out a parking spot. Once parked though you can also enjoy strolling into Keswick town centre, the lakeside theatre, walking, and other areas of the Lake including hiring a rowing boat or self drive motor boat. There are also regular organised boat trips available. Well worth a visit! The only reason I have deducted a star is that it can be a bit too commercialised for some and it costs 50p to go to the loo! All that said the idyllic location is set against the magnificent lake and mountains. No wonder it is popular! We have visited every time we have been to the lakes at different times of the year. It is much quieter...
Read moreUsed the Cafe today and I would recommend to avoid. 45 minutes I waited just for my drink which I asked about after a 30 minute wait. When they arrived they were wrong. After checking if our food was coming, turns out they had someother order. Repeated my order again. Waited another 20 minutes when it turned up it was wrong. Sent it back, came out again and only one meal was correct. I spoke to a manager who refunded the meal and took away the meal we left.
I understand in our climate its a change for everyone, however dont have so many tables if you can't cope, also the manager who was so willing to give me my money back I had waited 1 and a half ours and still not eaten, I've worked in hospitality before and I would have always offered the correct meal with a refund.
Very poor experience, left hungry and unsatisfied. Plenty of other places...
Read moreA beautiful park that's split into two sections. For those wanting to participate in activities there's crazy golf, a putting green and a pitch & putt course. Hope Cafe and a small refreshments kiosk will meet the needs of visitors wanting to grab a quick hot or cold drink, snack, sweets, ice cream or something more substantial. The cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating. Walk past the crazy golf and you can enter the second half of the park - for those who just want to sit and have a break. The park gardens are well tended and are full of beautiful plants, trees and bushes. Sit quietly and wait for the Robins and Sparrows to join you, wanting a bit of your sandwich! If you're lucky you might catch sight of the other wildlife that make this park their home - we saw a little Wood Mouse this week. Great place for a picnic or just to...
