We went here on Sunday while visiting Whitby for the weekend. We were struggling to find a cafe and a lovely lady in the Whitby Deli recommended it to us. The cafe is cute, and had a nice atmosphere. I was impressed with the range of breakfast options and the prices weren't bad. Myself and my partner opted for full English breakfasts and I requested my eggs be scrambled instead of fried which they we happy to cater to. They were slow to clear the table from the previous customers when we sat down and didn't wipe it when they did which is why I've given 4 stars on the service. The breakfast was lovely, the only reason I've given 4 stars and not 5 was because the two sausages were overly done and just edible. Other than that it was a great service and a good breakfast and the girls at the till were friendly. It did take a little while to get the food but I forgave that as I'd asked for a different type of egg. The only other thing I would add is its not accessibility friendly as it's positioned on a steep path and most of the seating in the downstairs is barstools so I wouldn't recommend this place to the elderly or disabled...
Read moreWe visited Java on a Thursday lunchtime and got a seat upstairs. The interior is fantastic and looks like it has been created by someone off the BBC’s ‘Interior Design Masters’ show with funky wallpaper and trendy colour scheme.
We ordered two lattes which were reasonably priced and tasted delicious - I love that they come with a Lotus biscuit too: always a nice touch.
The only strange thing was that the loyalty card they have is only for takeaways and not for sit ins. Also, when we arrived, our table was dirty. I went downstairs and asked if there was a cloth I could use to clean it (expecting the employee to offer to pop up and clean it for me), but she handed me a cloth to clean it myself. But this wasn’t a major issue (happy to help out), and I would definitely return because the coffee...
Read moreI reviewed Java Cafe a couple of months ago after a particularly bad experience there, I visited again yesterday with my wife as the atmosphere in there as we walked past looked a lot better, and thought it was only right to rate this cafe again. Coffee was nice, the blend used is our favourite of the Baytown selection and great that local produce is used. I had the butter burger and my wife had the American burger. Both were delicious, restaurant standard, and a far cry from what we expected from a cafe. Staff in there we’re working hard with smiles on their faces, the waitress who helped us was very welcoming and accommodating despite being put through her paces. Touché Java for redeeming a bad experience, we will now be back regularly if this is...
