Summary: Small portions (Only half a fish). Grumpy Staff. Extra to sit down. Still hungry after!

Came with a friend, and as we'd both had a long day we just wanted something quick and easy. Two or three tables with chairs outside all taken up by people that seemed to be enjoying their takeaway and the good weather. We wondered inside and notice a couple of spare tables inside and a restaurant area out to the back.

Whilst queuing our conversation was brought to an abrupt halt by a loud crashing sound as the metal tongs used to remove the fish from the fryer collided with the metal frame of the glass display cabinet as the fish was flung halfway across it. The fish was then repeatedly tossed around to remove the excess batter that was then scraped to a pile in the far corner. A very noisy and distracting process that was repeated several times getting the attention of many people in the queue. The young lady cooking the fish looked miserable and quite clearly did not want to be there, not once did she smile or glance up.

When we placed our order I was told that it would cost an additional £1.30 (each?) if we wanted to sit down. So we chose to take it away.

Served in a tray, but you only get half a fish that lacked flavour and a small portion of chips for £5.45 (+ £1 for a can)! Around London £6 gets you a large whole fish and 2 scoops of chips that is usually a struggle to finish. That makes this place seem very expensive. Ruined what was otherwise a very enjoyable and pleasant day.

Top 30 fish shop status needs to be reviewed as there is nothing special about this one and we both shall be...

What a beautiful looking fish & chip restaurant & take away, I have been wanting to dine here for a long time on one my many visits to this beautiful area & was so excited that I finally had the time, but sadly on this occasion I wish I hadn't of bothered as I found it a complete let down & very disappointing as I expected freshness plus both good quality & service.

I walked in the door & felt everyone's eyes were on me, I asked if its ok to eat in & was told to go through & take a seat, I stepped in & a very miserable young lady pointed to a table, put a menu down, then walked off, I found that quite rude, she came back several moments later whilst I was still deciding, I felt so rushed & ordered haddock & chips with mushy peas & a diet coke, firstly my drink got slammed on the table, then several minutes later my meal arrived, far too quick to be freshly cooked which really disappointed me, the batter was hard & fatty with barely any fish inside as when I cut into it, the batter deflated like a flat pancake, luke warm & NO WAY fresh, chips tiny bits almost cold, the mushy peas were hot but resembled tasteless runny green liquid, strange taste too, even the tartare sauce when I found some tasted of spearmint, weird, also nobody came to check if everything was ok, then the bill was offered by a much friendlier lady once I put my cutlery down, no suggestion of dessert though as I was still starving, unsure if I'll return as I expected so much better...

We are a family of five and between had the equivalent of three meals, costing 33.35 takeaway. My partner was to share his meal with my son, and on leaving asked if he could have another small empty tray to put my son's share in. The old woman who served us shocked us with her immediate sharp decline to this request. She stated ' I have given you what you have paid for, not what you haven't paid for.' My partner said 'we have just spent 33.35 on fish and chips, and you won't give us a box.' She then replied the boxes cost her. My partner said to not worry about it, no problem, as we were leaving the shop. The old woman server proceeded to say to other customers, 'blimey o Riley, some people!!' My partner had left the shop at this point as she continued to exclaim about our seemingly absurd request. This is without any doubt a terrible attitude. Looking at some of the reviews, this poor attitude and service seems to be a common thread. I would say to the old lady who served us, irrespective of your station in life, you are in the business of serving the people, so perhaps try being a little...

Knight’s Fish & Chips is not just another eatery with a catchy name in Glastonbury. I find their menu design impressively helpful. The crunch on the lightly battered cod (full fillet + "mild sweet taste") was so perfectly prepared that I want to go back now! Knight’s designed their menu to satisfy the taste that you are looking for that day. I was very glad to learn about the distinction on texture and taste between cod, haddock, and flat-fish. The menu has a graphical illustration showing which parts of a fish one can order. Batter preference can be requested, and there is a guide for it too! Suppose you’d still want a recommendation for whatever reason, the dining room wait staff would be glad to help (omitting the directness of the front counter staff that seemed out of place). Knight’s Fish & Chips is an establishment food connoisseurs should not bypass when in Glastonbury, if not taking a break from the element! (Apologies for the camera angle… and dining rules might differ since picture was taken)

Ordered regular cod & chips. When we got it back we thought they’d given us small by mistake but it looked lovely. However the grease coming from the food was so off putting by the end of the meal both cardboard boxes were coming apart as the grease was dripping through. The batter wasn’t crispy. It may’ve started off crispy but was just soggy & falling off the fish. I’m so grateful I bought the food home to eat as the grease would’ve been everywhere had we eaten them sat out somewhere. The box was so soaked & falling apart it would’ve been impossible to eat them out. Such a shame as they definitely weren’t cheap, but on this experience, we won’t be returning. I’m aware fish & chips are deep-fried, but these were definitely one of the most greasy fish we’d ever eaten.
