A very lively beach with both young and older people. The water isn't the warmest but is nice for swimming and mostly for surfing fans. The beach is well maintained, surf lessons can be taken also here. There are two car parks..the Porthmeor Car Park 3 minutes walk from the beach and Barnoon Long Stay Car Park situated next to the cemetery.. like 5 minutes walk from the beach. There is also a bus stop right next to the Tate St. Ives. Many places to stay overnight or more nights available just minutes walk. The centre of St Ives approximately 15 minutes walk from the beach...here you can find many places to eat or drink. In town many accommodations avaliable. During hot summer it can get crowded.

We got there early a bagged one of the last parking spots :) The beach is sandy and there are lots of shops nearby and facilities if you need them. As with most of the beaches around Cornwal there is RNLI lifeguards who look out for you if you are in distress and advise you on where best to swim. Watch out for the sea gulls as they are quite keen to help you finish your Cornish pasty! If you fancy a change you can walk to the headland point which is a short walk away and offers an excellent view of the harbour and other beaches further long the coast.

Was an amazing beach for not only its size but the water depth allowed the kids to swim without fear of drowning.. Sands were gorgeous and the boardwalk shop's offered great food for the price. Has a surf school and seemed to be a spot for body boards.. I will how ever say there is next to no parking unless you go early.. But there are options ie park at one of the larger parking lots and take a cheap bus down.. I did it twice after i walked it... Not advised. Unless you want a calf workout..

It is a stunning spot, perfect for anyone who loves both beautiful scenery and beach activities. The golden sand is soft and clean, and the views across the water are breathtaking. The beach is popular with surfers, and even if you’re not catching waves, it’s a great place to watch them in action. The location is lively but still has a laid-back vibe, with plenty of space to relax or take a stroll along the shore. A must-visit if you’re in St. Ives!

Beautiful beach. We parked in the rugby club and got a cheap bus that leaves from there to the beach, which saved me a big walk with the kids. Bus staff were friendly. Beautiful white sandy beach, clear sea and good waves for boogie boards. Toilets on the beach, lifeguards who were doing a great job, very attentive. Food place was gorgeous. Lovely fresh food and cakes. Couple of cool gift shops selling some nice clothes. Definitely worth a visit

A lovely sandy beach that's easy to reach with plenty of parking space, restaurants and surf equipment-hire places nearby. Always seems to have waves big enough for surfers of all abilities to ride. Was lucky to be there recently to capture this view and amazing lighting conditions just before sunset. I totally understand why this part of Cornwall is so popular with the artist community.
