Little Tokyo Restaurant — Restaurant in England

One thing I don't understand about these so-called "authentic" Japanese is why do they call themselves Japanese when the recipe itself is not Japanese, the menu is in Chinese (I can make the difference between Hiragana+Katakana+Kanji and pure Kanji) and no one in the staff is Japanese.

I've tried to calm down before writing this review, but here's why I won't step into that place again:

My wife & I both had Beef Ramen.

1. The noodles were hard even 10 minutes after we were served.
2. The beef wasn't actual beef meat, it was grilled beef jerky.
3. I massively dislike beansprouts so I tried to get as many as I could and put them on my serviette. As soon as I started doing that, our waiter started laughing out loud with the rest of the staff and when we've finished, he laughed mockingly and said to me "next time do tell me you don't like beansprouts and I won't put any in your soup". After double checking their website, my answer to him is "Next time make sure you even write what your menu items contain!".

There won't be a next time. 2x Beef Ramen should have been 17.90. Add to that a lemonade and an apple juice, which were 1.95 each, and you get £21.70. Not sure how he's got to £25.50. I'd love to upload the receipt as proof to this, but you don't even get a receipt. At least we didn't. The "receipt" was a piece of paper where the items and their prices were handwritten. He's only shown it to me and then took it away.

This is worlds away from Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine. The fact that you say どうぞ or いただきます doesn't compensate for anything if you mock your customers for trying to be respectful and then overcharge them! There's that American saying "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". I'm not going to fall for this a second time.

Been to the same restaurant about a year ago. Was really happy about the service, the food and the price, not cheap, but resealable.

Visited yesterday again, was really looking forward to some nice food. But what i have got instead was disappointment.

Here's a run down with what went wrong:

Vegetable Tempura: Really small portion, the dipping sauce I have got was cheap chili paste. Not the normal soy sake dipping sauce.

Octopus balls: 3 tiny little ball for the grand price of £4.95. The really nice touch was they only mentioned the price but never mentioned the quantities. When I inquired about the potion the waitress just said: "you were only suppose to have a taste".

Green Tea: I drink a lot of tea, like everyday, that tea I had tasted like some small animal had died in it.

Everything else: The potion is a lot smaller, never have I seen a tamago nigiri so small! I watch what I eat and i really don't eat that much but after that meal i felt like i should go get another dinner.

For the two of us, the bill came to £49.

Here is the final insult.

When I asked for the bill I was told if I pay by a DEBIT card I will be charged 10% extra! If it's a small amount and on a credit card, I can understand, but on a DEBIT card? That was silly.

I left the restaurant feeling cheated and hungry. All in all, bad time.

I always advice people to find things out for themselves, but in this instance I will sincerely advice you to stay away.

I had came to little Tokyo because the owner from another drink company had requested me to try it out, so I did after so long.

We was served really quickly, several customers inside the food wait wasn’t too long which is a good thing.

Duck à la carte Pineapple no taste drench in water pulling all the natural pineapple juices Sweet and sour sauce is more like a Chinese plum sauce, mixed with dark soy sauce but it’s added extra extra sugar to it. Must eat with the rice

Maki - Sushi rice itself not seasoned not even a little. You can taste the sushi rice was just boiled, could added some seasoning even a little compared to the sushi’s I’ve had in Leicester.

Set A - curry was bland, I could make Japanese curry from the pre-made packets from the Asian supermarket store. It’s tasteless curry sauce. Lots of veggies in it tho but a random large mushroom that should have been sliced preferably which is deep fried, and mushrooms shouldn’t be deep fried as it’s a sponge.

Both the soy sauce for the box menus are very very little. It was like the chef was on a budget I had to dip from my other sushi’s that came with the dip

Set C - The chicken was really small it reminded me of a smaller size of the Lidls chicken thigh that was fried and sliced.

Overall, the portion size isn’t great for the price, if it tasted really good the portion size and the price wouldn’t matter. However, the price of alcohol is great nice and nice selection and the waiting time to the customer service was great no issues just the...
