Absolutely disgusted by the two bouncers on the door Saturday night, they were so rude, we had been to the festival and decided to have a quick drink on the way home as my son had just had his 23rd birthday , we arrived went in and they stopped my son going in , claiming he was drunk , I explained he wasn't drunk he has a disability, they still wouldn't let him in as soon as I said about his disability they completely changed tune asking for id he didn't have any on him so that was the second excuse for not letting him in , the fact is if they'd have stopped him going in in the first place because he doesn't look old enough that would be fair enough but it was only when I said about disability and argued with them about it they changed there mind on the reason! A lady came up to me and said she had heard the whole thing and it was disgusting behaviour by these two men , we decided to go somewhere else but not without telling them I what I thought first, they chose to argue back with me which my disabled son saw which got him upset and he made a comment to the younger bouncer in which the he reacted by shouting at him come on then come on then , goading my disabled distressed son , absolutely awful experience these two men need education on manners and the fact my son was judged because of the way he looks and walks , we went down the road to the slug where he was let straight in and laughed with the lovely two welcoming bouncers there about...
Read moreReally poor experience today. Arrived about 4.30, sat outside and ordered some food. We asked for a highchair and took the bar lady an age to get one ftom the celler. The sun then came out quite strong so we moved inside because we had a 2 year old with us. I informed the guy at the bar, so they knew where we were for the food. He abruptly told me we would need to vacate by 6pm as he had to clear tables for a band. That wasnt a problem as many parents know, you dont dine for too long when with a small child. Any way my wife and i ordered the cajun chicken burger. Mine was okay however she barely touched hers as was overdone. Dry and overcooked. We ordered a mini lasagne for our daughter. This came out looking like an adult portion in an extremely hot dish. Not suitable for a child. The kids meal also came with a free ice cream. At about 5.20 i asked for this as was consious we needed to vacate the table by 6. At 5.45 after no sign of her icecream coming, we left. Our 2 year was getting quite restless at this point. Only reason i gave them 2 stars was because the bar lady offered a refund. I did however decline as was not prepared to hang around waiting for that either whilst trying to entertain my 2 year old. The refusal of a refund is on me. The bad service and food is them. Wont...
Read moreMy nephew and his friend went to this pub on NYEs. They were asked to leave for causing a disturbance by an unofficial contract member of staff, who would not explain what they had done wrong or let them back in to collect a coat and mobile phone.
I took my nephew back the next day to collect his coat and phone and ask what had happened for them to be asked to leave. We were given the coat, but no phone. The license owner was uncontactable and the manager on duty had no idea what had happened or where the phone had gone.
Since then I have tried to get more information and understanding of what happened, but with very little success. The licensee has been absolutely no help at all and not made contact with me or been available to discuss compensation for the phone being taken on his premises, whilst he was in charge and for letting a non authorised contract worker throw someone out of the pub with no explanation and refusing to let them retrieve their property or get it himself.
I am going to escalate this with the brewery who manage this pub and share my disgust in how these new owners are managing their pub
My husband and I used to use this pub all the time when Anna was the land lady, but not sure we will be going back...
