Excellent fish pub restaurant. Laid back. Friendly. Superb. The unique tiled front makes this pub stand out, and yet its unassuming. Not sure how hidden as it’s on the seafront but certainly a gem. Our friends (local Hamworthy residents) swear by the food here and I can see why. We had: -Cajun catfish - absolute star of the show, so soft and succulent and tasty. I’d never had catfish before and would come back just for this beautifully light fish. Hands down the best fish I’ve had from a pub in the UK. -Smoked haddock pot - amazing smokey creamy taste -Cod on samphire - tender -Gernard - as it should be -Casserole - various fish, mussels and a giant prawn in a tomato based sauce - amazing. Also the Cappuccino cake - wow!! All in a mega friendly environment. Pub also has a good few beers.

This is a lovely old pub on Poole Quay with a great seafood menu. It's not a "cheffy" menu, and to my mind it's all the better for that. I had a scallop and black pudding starter. Perfectly cooked sweet scallops, complimented by good black pudding, that I'm sure came from a local butcher rather than Tesco. The main of sea bass was, again, perfectly cooked. Not messed about with, just well cooked and served with good veg. Great staff. Ok beer... that's why it's 4 rather than 5 stars, but that's probably down to geography. When you sell your local breweries to Marstons you get the bland beer you deserve. Don't let that put you off. This is a lovely, friendly pub selling great and fresh seafood. And you have to go outside, down an alley, to the gent's. That made me smile!

Came here for a spot of lunch & what can I say...... Absolutely amazing, Small cosy pub which sells the most wonderful array of fish dishes plus a few none fish plates. We didn't book so I guess we were lucky has within half an hour the place was full. I recommend a small or no breakfast before you go for lunch 😁 the portion sizes are extremely generous. Starters we shared were the salt & chili squid and a portion of boquerones which were delicious. Mains we had a Poole arms seafood casserole & the smoked haddock pot. Absolutely tasty and fully loaded with fish no scrimping here! Hats off to the chef 😁 Excellent choice of beers, wines etc. Friendly attentive staff, beautiful hot tasty food. Shame we live 90 miles away or we would be regulars. Will hopefully be back soon!

One of the most distinctively beautiful pub exteriors in England. Several handpulls of independent brewery ales and, most importantly, all kept and served in lovely condition. However, the highlight is unquestionably the seafood menu. We ordered multiple dishes, every one of which was notable for its freshness, flavour and smartness of presentation. The wine list is well-chosen and fairly-priced. We really appreciated the quality in such an unfussy and unpretentious homely pub setting. Top marks also to the charming young waitresses who served us with warmth and professionalism. Looking forward to a return visit!!

The food at Poole arms was so delicious. The portions are huge and you can tell that everything is freshly made. The menu is also really well priced, we had starters, mains and alcoholic drinks for two at around £80. As the pub is so small I would definitely recommend booking. We booked on the day and only had the choice of first or last table as they’re quite popular! It’s very quaint inside but is very old school pub style and not very modern. All of the staff were really friendly so if you are looking for a lovely old pub experience I would thoroughly recommend.

Fab to get to a pub 🍻 with locally, fresh cought seafood 🍤🦐🐟🦪 served. Problem for me was that the dishes been to tastless for me - I mean without any kind of seasoning, spices or herbs. Cooked without pepper and salt too what is a bit awkward. But the choice was decent (counted for even wider but maybe we came to early), same as service. We hoped for some proper sailor ⚓ themed ambience but there was just small collection of memorabilia and overall had a lack o character although was fine and cosy. Façade of the building is really great though! 🏗️
