Rockfish in Poole is an absolute gem, a culinary masterpiece nestled in the heart of the town. I never imagined I would stumble upon a place that serves such exquisitely delicious fare. We visited on a Sunday evening, and though the restaurant was bustling, the experience was nothing short of exceptional (I highly recommend booking in advance). From the moment you step through the door, you are enveloped in an atmosphere that is both warm and inviting. The ambiance, thoughtfully designed interiors, and, most importantly, the food, all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. We indulged in their classic Fish and Chips, as well as the Chicken dish, which were both exceptional. However, the highlight of our evening was the catch of the day: a divine Devon Lobster, a dish that truly deserves a chef’s kiss. Not forgetting we wrapped up all of that with a Crème Brûlée. The visionary behind Rockfish has curated not just a menu, but an entire experience, with every detail—from the artfully crafted menu to the beautifully arranged bathrooms—reflecting a deep love for the craft. Our servers, Anette and Andy, epitomised what true service should be. Their warmth and attentiveness elevated our evening to something truly special. To anyone reading this and contemplating a visit, I can’t recommend Rockfish highly enough. It’s a place that exceeds expectations, and one you’ll remember long after the meal is over.

I wish there were a Rockfish near / in London. I have tried them before in Brixham and I was happy to find one en-route in Poole during our recent trip. Their Gurnard (lightly charred / grilled) with lemon pickle butter was extremely delicious. The lemon pickle butter made the dish but the fish was cooked to perfection. Previously I have had the Dover Sole grilled in butter and that was delicious too however the lemon pickle was fab. This was what I originally went to Brixham for but it was sold out there by early evening dinner! They have a good veggie burger option as well although it was missing something overall - perhaps a great relish running through bringing out the flavors. But thankfully they do not seem to have gone for a vegan premade patty. This was made inhouse which is always appreciated. The bottomless chips are great - you can eat as much as you want and it prevents wastage with small portions bought in each time - just so you know when to stop. They had a good selection of drinks and overall I would return here again just for the lovely seafood. The Poole restaurant has a lovely ambience and the service was lovely / with a smile always. They have a great kids kit to keep the kids entertained - my kid loves them. A visit again to try Rockfish will be needed :)

I came to this place when it literally just opened; very unfortunately for them it was in the heart of Covid, and dining experiences were becoming somewhat remote. I had a great experience then and on visiting at the may month end bank Holiday weekend from London, I can say; amidst being truly glad it's survived Covid, the dining experience was equally perfect. Rockfish restaurant greatly differs from traditional slap ups in that they include fish from local or near local UK waters. The restaurant setting is carefully balanced between 'subtle upmarket' whilst retaining the seaside theme. In addition to the traditional table dining experience, they also have window tables with highs tools where you you can enjoy the boats, and footfall on the Poole promenade, whilst tucking in. Today's choice was a monkfish 'scampi' starter and main of Rockfish and chips with curry mushy peas Pics below, it was well prepared and tasted absolutely great. This restaurant is situated on the Poole waterfront so is a great place to stop on the Dorset coast. Rockfish also has a takeout service adjoining, but is honestly recommend dining in for the full experience. A very worthy 5 stars. Huge thanks to Rockfish staff member Lisa who helped make the Rockfish dining experience great 👍🙂.

Oh my goodness. DO NOT miss Rockfish if you’re visiting Poole. Put simply it was the best meal I’ve had this year. 👌🏼 I visited on a Tuesday around 6:30pm. Although I hadn’t booked they were kindly able to cater for me. If you get chance though I’d definitely recommend booking so that you don’t miss out. Tuesday night is bikers night 🏍️ in Poole. It was pretty lively (although also very respectful) outside with hundreds of bikers. Inside … you couldn’t tell. I chose the Chargrilled Sea Bream 🐟 with Greek Island 🇬🇷 Salad. As my wife says “it’s a bit of me”. Really fresh tasting grilled Sea Bream on a bed of tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, onions and feta. A taste sensation! 🍅🫑🥒🧅🧀 I was served by Andy. He spent time talking to me, which as a solo diner is always appreciated. Fantastic service to back up the amazing food. 🙌🏼 Aside from chatting to the staff I did the solo diner thing and watched YouTube. Still trying to find the perfect home coffee machine(recommendations gratefully received). ☕️ If I’m in Poole again, I will 💯% be revisiting Rockfish. An absolute gem, found by searching Google reviews. Thanks to the Google community for sharing this little gem! 🩵

At last we got around to trying this restaurant. We entered from the lively Poole Quay waterfront. We were immediately greeted by a super friendly and highly professional maitre D. Our dog was made a fuss of and welcomed inside to our table. Without any wait a nice, friendly waiter attended to us and we ordered cider and a glass of champagne. You also get as much sparkling water as you want. We were amazed to read that Rockfish has its own fishing boat. The waiter informs you which fish isn't available and circles each one on your paper menu. We both had Sea Bream in a lime and butter sauce. I was disappointed that the accompaniment is either chips or salad. I wanted new potatoes. The chips are refillable free of charge. My salad was excellent. The Sea Bream was succulent. Our dog sat happily beneath our table. Take a trip to the w.c. and you will love the old fashioned maritime voiceover. We were glad we tried it and highly recommend.
