M&S Cafe — Restaurant in England

Recently visited for breakfast with my sister, she ordered hers first and me second on the self service machine, tea arrived for her first then me, then her breakfast arrived and mine didn’t, waited 20 minutes and asked if mine was going to be much longer, was told it wasn’t ready just yet but will be out shortly, waited another 20 minutes by this time my sister had finished her breakfast, asked again and was told that it had been ‘lost’ had to provide a receipt as proof even tho my tea had arrived, at this stage we had already been there for over an hour and needed to leave, I had to request a refund and was only offered a very unconvincing sorry, and was only refunded for my breakfast. I understand mistakes happen but to have to ask twice where it was, was frustrating to say the least, and then to have to prove my order and wait for a refund just made the whole experience one I won’t be repeating, not only did I have to try and grab something to eat whilst doing my shopping it limited my time in lakeside which I don’t get to do much. The way my situation was dealt with made this whole experience worse. So I can’t comment on the taste of the food due to mine...

A beautiful cafe based inside the new M&S, very bright, clean and spacious. They have the friendliest staff here, very polite and helpful. The quality of food and drinks is very good, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Nice selection of teas and cakes available. The scone was giant and very delicious, goes very well with the creamy clotted cream and strawberry jam. There’s a gluten free option as well. Free water available by the entrance. Really disgusting service, we got there just before 16.30pm on a Sunday after seeing online that the cafe shuts at 5pm. So we get there before they’ve put the barriers across and she said ‘oh we are closed’. It wasn’t even 16.30pm yet! Why don’t you update your opening times so you don’t disappoint customers. All you’re doing is microwaving food, she could have done it for us but was rude and refused to. Would avoid this place. Very rude and unclear...
