Modelo Lounge — Restaurant in England

I don't think it is doing as well as it was. It was empty when we last went there a couple of days ago in mid December 2020 compared to other more busy restaurants on the same evening, even though it was mid week. They have in the past always been happy and child friendly and there are not many child friendly pubs/restaurants in Hove so that is a big plus because in the Modelo Lounge there are games for children to play with while you relax, eat and have a pint (or two!) but the mood of the 2 staff during this visit seemed to reflect the emptiness of the place. Maybe it is about to close down and the staff know this?! The menu is full and varied, if a little pricey. Portions can sometimes be a little small. The Brunch menu is fantastic and very reasonably priced and is served all day. I did not use the table order QR code service because on reading their terms and conditions, my personal details and bank details would have been sent to the USA via the 'braintree' server, and i didn't want my name, email address and mobile phone number to be sold on. Also, 'zonal retail data systems' use your email address to generate your receipt and although it says they do not store your email address, there would be nothing to stop them selling it on. I am writing this review more from the point of view of accessibility. The entrance is ramped, and has a wide door, so wheelchairs and power chairs can easily fit through.

Inside is really cosy and relaxing, but the space is big so you can easily move around in your wheelchair/power chair. There are various types of seats (a few some armchairs, cushioned benches), so you feel you can relax if you need to.

The disabled toilet it's on the same ground level, it has a wide door, and there are grab rails by the toilet etc.

There is disabled parking immediately outside. I counted around 4 cars with blue badges.

The staff are lovely and really helpful. The food is really yummy. Some of it pricier than others. I would say some of the Tapas what's on the pricier side for the amount that you get, but lovely nonetheless. The cocktails are really well made, and they do have special offers...

Good food. Good people. Good location.

First of all you should know the service was amazing. Not one, not two, but three people welcomed, attended and waited me today; all were equally polite, kind, professional, approachable, smiling throughout.

Asked for hot water and got it immediately without any hindrance or judgement both the times (unlike some places I’ve been).

Had smashed Avocados with poached egg on flat bread for late Brunch. It was delicious. And the sausage was perfect, as if it came straight from the farm next door this morning.

I can’t believe this is the first time I’m visiting. Easily one of the easiest choices for me in future.

I noticed them consistently asking all the guests about food allergies and choices.
