The first impression of this restaurant was excellent. The decor is very nice although the menu was wet on the table we were sat at upstairs. The smells from the kitchen were very appetising. Initially I tried to order dishes from the stock photos on the website, to be told they were only available at lunchtime. We ordered duck spring rolls and squid for starters. The squid was rubbery and undercooked. That was the first thing that couldn't be eaten. We ordered two fish dishes for mains. One was described as mildly hot on the menu and the other was described as hotter. When the food arrived we were disappointed to find there was so much chilli in both dishes, they were barely edible. I love chilli and spice but it was even too much for me. And as they were fish dishes this totally overpowered and spoiled the meals. There were huge chunks of lemon grass and whole green peppercorn trees and many other inedible items on the plate. We...
Read moreI ate at Giggling Squid Hove on 29 June 2025. I ordered a main course of the Sticky Chicken £14.99. It was so spicy. Someone else at our table also ordered it. We were unable to eat it because of the amount of chili. The waitress said it wasn’t possible to cook it with less chili as the sauce is delivered to the restaurant, presumably just for re-heating prior to serving. Not exactly the 'chef creation’ boasted on your menu. Also AI refers to the food being cooked on site. This is not correct. We were offered one portion of Pad Thai and no charge was made for the Sticky Chicken, rightly so. The Pad Thai with chicken was dry and unpleasant and we left it. I have travelled to Thailand many times and eaten Thai food many times so am well used to the flavours. I had a horrible meal and it was expensive. I would never return to your restaurant, what a...

We placed a large order from this restaurant via Deliveroo, only for them to completely mess it up. They failed to deliver one of our main courses, which was extremely disappointing. When we called the restaurant to resolve the issue, they outright refused to send out the missing item or take any responsibility. Instead, they brushed us off, saying we needed to raise the issue with Deliveroo.
After wasting ages on Deliveroo's frustrating online chat, they refused to refund us because we couldn’t "prove" the item was missing. How exactly do you prove something isn’t there?
This was an infuriating experience from start to finish. Neither the restaurant nor Deliveroo cares about customer service or accountability. Do yourself a favour: avoid this restaurant and think twice before using Deliveroo. Unreliable, unhelpful, and not...
