Bewilder Box Escape Room Brighton — Attraction in Great Britain

We recently visited Brighton and had the pleasure of doing two escape rooms at Bewilder Box: The Initiative and Judgement D.A.V.E.. Both rooms were incredible and offered something unique, making for an unforgettable experience.

The Initiative was my personal favorite. The storyline and puzzles were top-notch, challenging enough to keep us engaged without ever feeling overwhelming. What really made this room stand out was Doctor O’Donaghue, our game master, who stayed in character throughout the entire experience. His enthusiasm, humor, and energy brought the room to life and added an extra layer of immersion that we’ve rarely seen in other escape rooms. The room itself had a great mix of mental and physical puzzles, all perfectly balanced for fun and challenge. It was a thrilling, fast-paced adventure that had us working together as a team.

My wife, on the other hand, preferred Judgement D.A.V.E., hosted by Doctor Joy. This room had a completely different vibe but was equally excellent. The high-tech theme was refreshing, and the mix of mechanical and electronic puzzles was cleverly integrated. Doctor Joy kept the energy up and made the whole experience both fun and immersive. We felt like we were truly part of a mission, and the personal touch of interacting with "D.A.V.E." added a lot to the overall enjoyment.

One of the best things about Bewilder Box is how committed the game masters are to their roles. Both Doctor O'Donaghue and Doctor Joy stayed in character from the moment we arrived until the very end, and they truly elevated the entire experience. The storytelling, the humor, and the immersion were spot on. It’s not just about solving puzzles here—the hosts make sure you're fully engaged in the story and having fun every step of the way.

We’ve done quite a few escape rooms, and I can confidently say that Bewilder Box ranks among the best. I booked an escape room for myself and 3 friends for our girls weekend in Brighton. We had done one 'live' escape room before and often play the at home versions when we get together. We were a little nervous going in but Dr Archie Bald was fabulous and got us fully excited about our mission! The game was great with lots of surprises, challenging enough that it wasn't easy but knowing D.A.V.E was there to help if needed. We had such a good time and felt so proud about our success that we decided to return the next morning to attempt the other room. Dr Banana was so helpful, even getting up early to come and open up the lab especially for us! (Thank you!!) We loved the second room just as much as the first and found ourselves feeling very smug once more. Outside of the lab Dave was lovely to chat with and gave us loads of recommendations about other rooms to try and how to find the best ones. The food and vibes at the Brunswick were lovely and we got a little discount to top off the weekend perfectly! We visited as a family of four (two adults, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old) for the children’s birthdays, and it was absolutely brilliant! The escape room was really fun and just the right level of challenge — plenty to keep the adults thinking but also loads for the kids to get involved with. They came away feeling proud of how much they contributed, which was lovely to see.

We did Judgement Dave. The room itself was full of clever puzzles and little surprises, so we were busy the whole time but still managed to make it out! The hosts really made the experience, they met us in character, which set the tone straight away. Dr Joy and her colleague were so patient and kind with the children, answering their questions and giving them encouragement that really boosted their confidence. As our children are neurodivergent and sometimes find group activities tricky, it was reassuring to see them so engaged and supported.

We had such a great time and are already looking forward to coming back to try their other room. Highly recommend for families, it’s a fantastic experience...
