Reading the other reviews I’ve noticed that my group was not the only one with the the issues we had last night at The Manor. We had booked a table and were sat at what I’d describe as a cocktail table, as it was at the height of our knees and wasn’t suitable for food. Apparently you’re supposed to eat on your lap, which isn’t what you’d hope for or expect from an expensive restaurant that prides themselves on the experience.
It didn’t appear that the servers had sections, so we ended up being served by about 6 different people. This wasn’t ideal because we didn’t get attentive service and had to constantly flag down waiters to order, get our food and pay our bill. One of the servers took our order and about 15 minutes later some of the food arrived - we knew that it would come at staggered times but it took about 45 minutes from when the first plate came to when the last one did, so we were all eating at different times. One of the members of our party’s order wasn’t put through - the server came over and asked what we were missing and we had to repeatedly say that her three dishes were missing, which they put through the system again. They did come out, but then they ended up charging us twice for her food that they had forgotten. When one of the dishes was brought to the table, which the server dropped the bowl and it spilt (this isn’t an issue because accidents happen and she did get us a new bowl), but they ended up charging us for the new bowl despite us not being the ones that spilt the dish.
When we got the bill, we had about 5 items that has been duplicated on the receipt, which is an error that probably would’ve been noticed if we hadn’t had multiple different servers throughout the night. A service charge of about £40 had been added to the bill automatically, which we did not want to pay given that the service had been sub-par. Missing items, spilt dishes, huge waiting times, and not one apology for the missing or spilt food and we were still expected to pay a 15% service charge. It’s understandable for servers to take a while to come to the table when a place is busy, but not only were there plenty of empty tables but about 8 of the servers/runners were just standing by the bar and talking and playing around, even though we kept making eye contact and waving to try and get someone’s attention. Small things that would’ve improved our experience were ignored - we asked for the heating lamps to be turned on because it was cold on the rooftop and we continually asked for some water, neither of which we got.
The first time we went to The Manor we enjoyed our experience and thought it was expensive but overall worth it, but having gone again I don’t believe that the service, or food and drink makes up for the...

Read moreAbsolutely awful experience, after deciding to change our booking from. Opuz to The Manor and wholly regret it. Booking was for 7pm From waiting for 10 mins to get seated by the drafty front door (getting blasts of cold air every 5 mins from the door opening), to the 20 min wait to get served a drink, asking 4 times for some water for the table, a further 60 mins for the sub par cooked/burnt starters one which came out separately with the driest bread on earth, the mushrooms arrived with inedible burnt soda bread and replaced with some cheap sliced white bread and not even some butter or olive oil, garlic prawns were mushy and dry at the same time and tasted like left overs from the night before, the calamari tasted like it came out of a frozen packet...and as if to annoy us even more we waited a further 50 mins for the mains (which were to be fair good but partly we were so hungry and thirsty at that point it's hard to actually decide if the food was good). The serving staff were polite and apologetic probably doing the best they could with whatever issues were happening in the kitchen and chaos behind the scenes and although we did get some of the bill refunded, the manor spoiled what should have been a great night. Absolutely baffled, it didn't even look that busy.
Would not recommend, and will not be going there again. Would have been had a quicker nipping into the McDonald's and to a pub in another town. To summarize... Awful experience , seemingly precooked/frozen food or just a terrible chef, really don't bother unless you are happy to wait 2 hours for a basic dinner. If it wasn't for the good company of friends I would have walked away after the...
