I Visited here and the food been served around me looked beautiful and to be fair my partner enjoyed his meal, hence giving 2 star however my meal was disgusting and unfortunately I left the entire meal. I ordered a hunters chicken and expected it to come as it usually does a chicken breast wrapped with a small piece of bacon around some melted cheese and some BBQ sauce over the top, I was very mistaken. The chicken breast was served in a dish and it looked like it was drowning in a bath of BBQ sauce, It looked like an entire bottle or jar had been poured on and It tasted vile. It had 2 pieces of fat (hardly any bacon to be seen ) wrapped around it and which was pale and just not nice. The whole presentation of the dish was awful and far to much sauce used. Personally for me not my idea of a hunters chicken looked more like a bath of sauce. Unfortunately I won’t be returning and would not recommend the hunters chicken however the other food did look ok, just wanted to give my review as I visited after most reviews were good but for me it...
Read moreIt's very rare for me to post negative comments, but in this instance I feel it's totally justified. My family have been going to this restaurant for many years, but during our last couple of visits we have been made to feel unwelcome by certain members of staff. 5 weeks ago we booked the Sunday carvery for six people in person for 12.00 noon. So today we drove into Filey and arrived in plenty of time for our table. After standing in a queue for several minutes we were then told that our booking was for 2.00 and not 12.00. All our family members bear witness that we said 12.00 not 2.00, so we expressed our displeasure and left. We are in Filey every weekend for 10 months of the year, so I hope the owner and his staff appreciate what they will be missing in financial terms in the future. We will now take our business to a new pub that we have found in the past few weeks, where the staff are very friendly and the food is outstanding. Goodbye Smugglers Cove, you will miss us more than we...
Read moreFriendly staff and attentive service. Delicious proper homemade hearty and tasty meals. My husband had the Steak and Ale Pie which was full of large chunks of tender meat topped with yummy shortcrust pasty, he chose the chips instead of mash, all served with lashing of gravy (he opted to have no accompanying veg). I had delicious spaghetti bolognese - really tasty. Great value too.
Edit: The next day we returned to eat here. Delicious food, huge portions, very attentive, friendly and helpful staff. This time I had the steak and ale pie and it was absolutely delicious, and cannot believe how full it was with tender chunks of beef in a yummy rich gravy/sauce. Plus perfectly cooked broccoli and carrots, and fab chips and lashing of gravy in a gravy boat. Thank you again for a lovely and brilliant value meal 2...
