The food is good, the cakes are extremely good but the staff could do with a few lessons in customer care and maybe learn to smile occasionally. I've never met a more uninterested bunch of moody staff in my life. One of my daughters asked for a couple of items to be left off her full English breakfast, only to be told "We haven't time to make a custom breakfast as we are too busy". 'Busy' seemed to equate to eight people besides ourselves. This isn't the first time we've had the pleasure of the meeting the cheery staff at Oliver's mount, but as the view over Scarborough is stunning and the breakfasts are lovely, we go back from time to time. Who knows, maybe one day one of them will find their way into the cats pyjamas and see how customer service should be done.

Ok, just been to Oliver's mount café, and this time will be the last. Tried to order a cup of tea and a cappuccino only to be told in a very rude and snotty manner that I'll have to wait because the miserable face behind the counter was doing something else. Ok, says I, when you get around to it could I order a sandwich with it too? Apparently that was also a big, big no no too because they had a private function on downstairs and weren't doing any food orders. This was despite the fact that one of the members of staff was making a good job of downing a full English breakfast as I was asking!!! A cafe that doesn't sell food at half two on a Tuesday afternoon? I feel sorry for the people that own this place because the food is very good (when you can get it), the views over Scarborough are spectacular, but the terrible, sour faced, miserable and downright rude staff are driving...

Oh dear what has happened to this place we are from York and have visited several times in the past and loved it I’m unsure if it has changed hands but it’s definitely not the same anymore. On arrival after ringing to book with no reply it was rather empty and we were told we could sit outside. No menus given o had to go find some. We then went to order and I found the man on the till to just be damn right rude he didn’t speak apart from to tell me the total. Our drinks were put in a filthy tray I had to find my own cutlery and sauces and take salt and sugar off an inside table. To say that it was quiet there was just no customer service. My son’s burger was fine my halloumi burger was lovely. My husband’s Philly steak sandwich was vile it was pure fat and he sat pulling the majority out of his mouth and placed it in a napkin. I queried this with a young lad and the man from the till brought a small plate with another small steak over and said ‘there you go’ no oh I’m so sorry etc. my husband proceeded to try eat the second one and again nothing but gristle and fat. I again queried this and the same man just didn’t want to know he offered us free drinks which we obliged but left feeling disappointed. This is a great spot and we’ve always enjoyed our previous visits but today was a...

We went to Oliver’s on the mount on the 25th February, we got there about 11.45am had a wonderful breakfast my partner had the full English & I had the half breakfast ( even that was big, ) lovely breakfast it arrived quickly, hot & very fresh everything was nicely cooked really enjoyed it. Then in the afternoon we had a wake for my father in the function room downstairs, the tables was nicely laid out, we had afternoon tea what a section of delicious cakes, a lot to choice from all fresh all laid out on a s stunning cake stand in the style of a swan, the sandwiches was so fresh & tasty, had a choice of them to & every table that was laid out for us all had separate sandwich platters & separate cake stands, the views over Scarborough was a big bonus beautiful. You done us proud & father would of loved the spread that was laid on for him. The staff was very well presented very clean very polite very helpful, both in the morning & the afternoon. The only downfall was that we had to travel 192 miles there & back home ( (192 miles back home ) I would loved to of visited it again & spend a bit longer up there. A1 first class & would without a shadow of dealt highly recommend thank you all for the great memories I take away with...

We visited for breakfast yesterday as we were going for a nice long walk on Scarborough cliffs. Found this place and what drew me was the advertisement of sitting on the edge of the mount overlooking Scarborough whilst eating your breakfast. On the front of the cafe is a cute little sign saying dogs are welcome as long as they have clean paws and are on good behaviour, which was great as I do have a dog and he is absolutely no bother. Then when you walk in there is a stand with a sign saying please wait to be seated, so we did. However after less than a minute we were greeted by a very rude and abrupt you okay from one of the staff, at which point I asked for a table for 2 but were told with our dog we could only sit in the immediate entry way and at the till. Frustrating as the main selling point of the cafe is sitting “on the mount”. And my dog is a 7yr old Cockapoo, who just simply laid on the floor whilst we ate. This is the only thing that makes it 4*, advertising as dog friendly when you’re not really. We had the full breakfast, which was lovely and I had their special of a cinnamon roll late which was lovely!

After a 6 hour trek...my partner & I stopped off for a much needed brew & a sweet pick-me-up ...the only option at top of Olivers mount. It was a Tuesday...we didn't book...we would have been happy to take out (but could have only done it in a take-away cup) we wanted a proper cup so we could return it (reducing rubbish) & sit on the benches near by (due to land/council issues we had to sit within their vicinity on their chairs) ...obviously an issue with ceramic dishes...as it wouldn't have been such an issue were we sat if the coffee was in a paper cup...anyway - The cafe is tidy and clean & lovely decorated. The staff are ...indifferent. We ordered 2 lattes *just one size option* & a custard slice & a slice of carrot cake...total price ...£14 The cakes were okay (no different to what you could perhaps get at the pound bakery) & the latte was missing the coffee. I didn't have hot food so cannot comment on taste but price for a full breakfast is £10 Does come with a view if you wish.
