St Martin on the Hill — Attraction in England

Serendipity!! I visited this astounding church on a Sunday, when it was closed. As I was admiring the exterior, a lady arrived with a key, such happenstance! It was a flying visit, by necessity, but the lady was very kind, generous and extremely knowledgeable about the building. It is totally awesome indeed and demands a more leisurely return visit. I have never seen a pulpit like the one in this church. The windows, the organ... stunning. Gorgeous architectural detailing. But I came to see the renowned Pre-Raphaelite works by Ford Madox-Brown, William Morris, Edward Burne-Jones and Rossetti. I mean, wow, what a list!! Everything about this church is wonderful. It also has a café, loos and does tours on a Tuesday and Thursday. Brilliant, love it. Sooo highly...

This is such a beautiful church in Scarborough. It has the most amazing stained glass windows designed by the fabulous pre raphaelite artists Ford Madox Brown , Edward Burne Jones ,William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti . Plus it has a little community cafe offering lovely home made food and cake . Plus the floor is beautiful as well it has gorgeous stone flooring which is packed with fossils so beautiful , well worth a visit , there is a little car park just behind the church so you don't have to walk far or struggle for parking on the disc zone control streets...

Stunning Pre Raphaelite church - work by Rossetti, Burne-Jones, Morris, & Madox- Brown. Exceptional stained glass but note the painted panels on the pulpit and the gorgeous Morris designed altar frontal stitched by Janey and May Morris. Cafe at west end - food looked amazing, quiches, cheese scones & lots of hand made cakes. Handy loo. Lots of PRB goodies for sale too, wish I'd bought more!
