Didn't plan to visit this Chinese Restaurant but a friend and I were in the town for the first time to see a show and wanted some food before going to the theatre. We found this place via google maps. We hadn't booked but were able to be seated straight away, first impressions of the restaurant were clean and well presented. Service was good, food was timely and extremely tasty. This meal will go up there as one of my best Chinese meals I've had. The restaurant was averagely busy when we arrived (which was fairly early) but by the time we left it was almost full, usually a very good indicator of a good restaurant! Only negative was the mandatory 10% service charge, please just add 10% to the prices so it's clear selling!! I'd visit again if in the area.

Had dim sum here with family. Food quality were enough to give an illusion to westerners that they are eating Chinese food though. Environment was satisfactorily clean. Radish cake (蘿蔔糕) was too meshy and not much fillings. Yang zi mango dessert (楊枝甘露) was withOUT any pomelo or grapefruit; nothing more than little mango and sweetened fluid. Other dim sums were satisfactory. One staff was really rude to tell us we should order ONLY once, not to order additional items even for desserts. I'm sure she showed the best attitude ever throughout UK. Not the best experience across midlands. But within one hour drive you can surely find better in Nottingham, Birmingham or Leicester.

We skipped the 'all you can eat' in favour of the traditional Chinese dishes (which so few Chinese restaurants actually offer) and we weren't disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. We had squid with garlic, chilli and spring onions and the beef in chilli oil (like a Szechuan pepper stock), and pak choi. It was just perfect! Perfectly seasoned, full of flavour. The beef stock had the light citrus-y touch from the peppercorns. Very happy and I'll be back to get through more of the traditional dishes soon! 4* because a mandatory 10% service charge is added. We were happy with the service we received but I don't think this should be mandatory.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5+ Stars)

If you're searching for the best Chinese food in Northampton, look no further than Oriental Garden Restaurant! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Food Quality The menu is a delightful journey through authentic Chinese cuisine, and every dish I tried was nothing short of spectacular. The flavors are vibrant, and the ingredients are fresh, making each bite a true delight. The Peking Duck was perfectly crispy, and the Kung Pao Chickenwas bursting with spices that danced on the palate. The dim sum selection was also impressive, with delicate dumplings that were steamed to perfection.

Service The service at Oriental Garden is exceptional. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. Their prompt service ensured that our experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Ambiance The ambiance is a wonderful blend of traditional and modern decor, creating a relaxing space to enjoy a meal with friends or family. Whether you're there for a casual dinner or a special occasion, the setting is perfect.

Value for Money For the quality of food and service provided, the prices are very reasonable. You truly get great value for your money, and the generous portion sizes mean you won’t leave hungry!

Conclusion Overall, Oriental Garden Restaurant is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Northampton. With its mouth-watering dishes, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere, I can't recommend it highly enough. I would give it 5+ stars without a second thought! If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and indulge in some of the finest Chinese...

It's OK, if you decide to get the all you can eat buffet for £14.55 per person, that's what I had, when I went in there by my self yesterday I got to the table and was told that the buffet is only for a minimum of two people. Which I thought was unfair as when I have been in there before I have seen people on there own.

The minimum of two people also allows for portion control. No matter how many people are sitting at a table I have found that you all ways get the same size portion. I remember four of us going one time and we had a mix starter, the starter was finished rather quickly, and was the same size as a table of two's portion, and I even remember that a table of just one getting the same sized portion. You then have to wait to be served to order anymore. Putting the ball in the restaurants court, and of course helping the restaurant portion control.

The food itself was good, the typical standard of Chinese restaurant food. The staff and their attitude was ok, though when I went in yesterday they gave me the sense that if you didn't have two people eating there at a time that you weren't good enough to eat there. When one of the waitresses was trying to tell me that it was only for a minimum of two people she spoke rather fast and I had to get her to repeat it and when I asked if she could repeat what she had said she gave me a rather dirty look, the sort of look that you get if you get caught talking in school.

All in all the restaurant is average but there is a rather communist feel about the place. There are other Chinese restaurants to choose from.

Thanks for...

Great place to eat Chinese food. It’s long been a place where Chinese people go to eat, so it isn’t aimed at English tastes like some restaurants do.

Quality of the food is very good. I’ve been for dim-sum and their selection is good. My go to restaurant in the area is Taipan in Milton Keynes and this place is on a par. Some dim sum dishes I prefer at Taipan and others I prefer here.

However, for my most recent visit we opted for dishes from their main menu and this is where I was most impressed. Everything we had was excellent. The meat dishes were great and I highly recommend their char siu, crispy belly pork (then portion here is much bigger than at Taipan and it’s less salty too), and their roast duck is also a winner (I’d go so far as to say it’s not far off the standard of Four Seasons and Goldmine in London’s Bayswater area, both renowned globally for their roast duck). We had a variety of vegetables and noodles, all were good. It’s a child friendly place and there’s a multi storey car park opposite, so parking is plentiful. Definitely...
