The Wok Inn Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in England

My wife and I went thought we'd go out for a meal as hadn't been out 8n a while. The food was ok, but the staff weren't the best, when the food came out we were expected to make space on the table, which is fair enough to help out I suppose, however the staff weren't the friendliest of people for a restaurant.

When the bill came the food was added up and the drinks below it, then totalled and underneath the total was an additional charge with nothing to say what it was, until I asked. The last said it was a service charge and I'd have to speak to a manager. The manager,came over and insisted I had to pay it because it was a COMPULSARY SERVICE CHARGE, which I've never heard of, the manager also said all other restaurants have a service charge, I did mention that it's usually optional and normally required for 6 people or more, but not for 2. Totally ridiculous as the service wasn't up to par, I normally tip even when the service has been mediocre, but to have this restaurant not give you the option it's totally unacceptable.

I booked a table for 10 my Birthday. The booking was quick and hassle free. I even rang up a day before to add on an extra person with no issue.

We all had the order as much as you like from the menu. We had tasty prawn crackers on arrival. It wasnt long before a huge platter was brought out to us, this was the starter. It was loaded with a wide variety of tasty food. The smoked chicken & spare ribs were by far my favorite. Absolutely beautiful, very very tasty. This was accompanied by a vegetarian option also. We were asked if we wanted anymore? We declined.

We then had duck and pancakes brought out to us. Plenty of meat and pancakes. We got stuck in. It was amazing!

We then all ordered mains and rice. I had crispy shredded beef. This was one of the best variations of the dish I have had. Every person enjoyed their meal. It was delicious.

The service was by far the best I have recieved at any chinese restaurant. We didnt have to wait for a thing.

We drove half an hour to dine at this restaurant. And it was well worth it.

Just after entering the building, the guy at the reception very annoyingly told us that we would have to spend a minimum of 22 pound each, which we found very offensive.We asked if we could order things separately and not from the menu which he told us about and in that he said that we just can't order one thing and the minimum price per person was £13.Me and my wife we were shocked cause nobody just orders appetizer and go people do order main course as well and I don't think main course there is any less than £10 minimum. . It was unnecessary and I assumed that he thought we could not pay it based on our dress or our brown skin colour. I can say for sure if it was a white man or couple he wouldn't have said so.
