So I've been to this place a few times over the years and it used to be very good but my last visit was bad. Firstly they have changed how the 'buffet' works they ask if you want starters then bring out a small platter with 4 spring rolls, 2 peking ribs, 2 prawn toast and 2 satay chicken. They do offer to get you more though you then have to wait for that to be cooked.
Secondly since the last time the selection of food has drastically cut down. When we had arrived the food that was out was basically empty and told us they were cooking up more after about half an hour some of the trays had filled up again on top of the previous remains of food.
Finally the bill. I had asked one of the staff for the bill after only having 2 plates of food because of the low quality and selection then spent 15 minutes waiting before going and looking for a member of staff as it had appeared we were forgotten about. When the bill had arrived I was a bit horrified to see the costs had shot up. On the menu and no where inside had it mentioned the price or price increase of the buffet, everything else on the menu is priced except it. Which seems rather scummy to me as when we were seated they mentioned the place had changed slightly and I said that I've not been in over a year to which they informed me of the starter change above but nothing of the prices. The member of staff also apologised for food being slow because they had received a lot of take out orders. I'm sorry but the people that came out to the building should certainly have some priority in getting the food as those getting delivery know they have to wait.
Also in the restaurant I overheard a family which had 4 adults 3 children one of which was a baby had been charged for the price of 7 adults to which the staff corrected. I'm not sure how you confuse a baby with an adult but it might go to the apparent desperation and hiding prices.
There was also a woman that had come in by herself and because there was basically no food she never ate that much either then ended up just asking for the bill because she had to be elsewhere and when it did arrive she never had enough money because she had brought enough for the previous price. The member of staff was rude and said its up to her to find out the prices of things before she ordered but up till this point I had no idea of the price increase myself as it was never mentioned or advertised.
Overall I was very disappointed by the experience and will not be going here again as the place has only been getting worse over time and I don't see it...
Read moreFood is ok but not the best. I was disappointed that mist if the trays had just remnants in tbem though the place was quiet desserts were, jelly dregs, ice cream, mostly civered in uce crystals in freezer badly in need of de icing and banana fritters. Tbe fritters w were in the same savory sector, sector next to chips and noodles. Pretty much everything was cool. Or just luke warm and i had to request the food i had selected was microwaved. The duck had run out on 2 of my 3 visits to the buffet abd when ut did arrive there was only a small amiunt in tbe tray. The coke at three quid was expensive but if everything else was great I would have accepted it. The seaweed tasted more fishy than the king prawns and the fishy taste was like fish that had gone off. I would have preferred tbe ginger/brown sugar dressed version and a deep green rather tgan dull green/grey aooearance. It just seemed tired and reminiscent if the times before eating out was expected to be a delight. Ive eaten Chinese food in many places so am confident of my opinions. £13 isnt a lit for a buffet but I didnt feel I got much for £13. These guys needcto check out the buffet in MK and become passionate about what they are doing uf they are goung to survive much longer... Downstairs might well be much better... I prefer to compliment than criticise but cant find much to ssy. I guess tbe ine word would be.... ...
Read moreThe front of house is in need of some much needed maintenance from the walls with chunks of Plaster missing and the paintwork all scufy in places from the chairs etc staircase to the buffet area is looking and feeling very sticky this could be from the wrong cleaning products, the paint is thin on the handrail and should be addressed sooner rather than later. Toilets while fully functional are in need of a face lift as the handles to exit are only just held in place by a couple of screws. The plates and bowls look the same as they did 10 years ago and the cutlery are of catering quantity all need to be replaced as this brings the overall feeling of the place down. While the food is plentiful and of a reasonable standard it will not be the best you've had from other restaurants serving the same type of food. Staff are helpful and will clear away your plates etc quickly. Just giving a completely honest review of front of house as seen from my eyes others will see things...
