We have been frequenting Peppers for many years and been very impressed until tonight, I can only think this establishment has changed hands, as tonight’s meal was one of the worst meals I have ever had. I don’t complain when I go out for meals and please don’t pull the COVID pandemic card.
I would just like to pass on my experience dining at your restaurant, so you can turn it around, hopefully. We were speaking to a couple around the harbour tonight, to find they had the same type of experience dining in your restaurant tonight as us.
We arrived at 17:15, 20th November 2021, we were seated at our table opposite to the bar, served promptly taking our order. I must add your staff, although friendly were having more of a social catchup rather than turning up to do a shift at Peppers, I didn’t need to hear about their social life, with four of them chatting at the bar. I would also like to add you probably need a dress code for your staff, I don’t particularly want to see someone serving food with slip on shoes, with no socks, slipping her feet out showing her bare feet whilst I’m eating my food. We ordered our starters, which arrived promptly, when my wife got into the middle of her starter she found a lump of frozen ice, the deep fried starter was clearly not cooked, or tested with a temperature probe before it was sent out. We immediately complained, the food was sent back, another was finally sent out, I had finished my starter and had to wait 15 minutes for my wife to finish her starter.
Then the main meals arrived, I had the prawn Linguine, the Linguine was under cooked, the sauce just tasted of vinegar, there is absolutely no way this dish was tasted by your chief before the dish was sent out, it was totally inedible, I have never tasted something so bad. We called a member of staff over to explain, she offered to get another one, but we had enough by then and said we weren’t going to pay for that, and that we weren’t impressed by the food, when we had eaten here on a few occasions and really enjoyed the food. I went to the local chip shop after I left the restaurant.
I hope to hear from you with a response, I hope you can learn from this experience, I see your Google reviews are beginning to slip with similar experiences. I don’t want to leave you a bad review or take this matter to the next level, just a response how you see my experience. I do have photos of the poor quality food, and was shocked to find on the bill one lemonade at £5.00 and one coke priced at £5.00, a total of £10.00 for two soft drinks, which...
Read moreThis place is a bit tucked away, you could easily walk past it and not see it. Googled 'places to eat in st.ives' while I was visiting September 25, walked in on a chance without a booking. It was really busy, asked about availability and was fitted in for 8.45 by a hostess I thought was a little rude. Went and got drinks and came back at our designated time. What a treat it was!. Food was delicious, service was fantastic. Started with bread with oil and balsamic... Fabulous. Prawns to start that came with more bread... That was on me but it was demolished anyway. For main I had the lasagne which was so fresh and delicious. If I visit again I will definitely be ordering the spicy meatballs because someone at an adjacent table had it and it looked delicious. The aesthetic is intimate and personal, the lighting low, the music soft, the service timely enough not to feel rushed but your not waiting too long. The hostess who I thought I was rude?, turned out to be so nice and personal... We just caught her in a mad moment because it was busy. She gave us so much information about where we planned to visit and move on to, what to see, where to go, the hidden treasures and we ended up having a laugh with her... These are the places I like to eat at, service but social. Thoroughly recommend for great food, great service with the personal touch. Will definitely visit again but book ahead of time because...
Read moreWe popped in as we were looking for a place to eat. We enjoy Italian food and thought it would be a good place to eat. As this is a pasta and pizza we thought it would be a good one to get a pizza but from the get go we were told that they can't serve pizza because they had a big order and it wasn't available. We said okay and thought we can find something on the menu that we can enjoy. For starters I ordered the soup of the day and my partner some cheesy garlic bread. The starters were really good and both enjoyed them. As a main I ordered the seafood linguine and my partner the Cajun chicken tagliatelle. I am sorry to say but the pasta did not look homemade and unfortunately the shrimps from my dish were not devined. The poop sack was still in them and the moussles have not been properly cleaned. They have the beard on some of them. The waiter tried to tell me that is not possible to devine the shrimps if they are cooked shell on but that is no longer true. There are special utensils that allow this now. The sauce of the seafood pasta was acceptable. The service was good. The waiters were polite and apologetic and took of the seafood this from our bill. We do thank them for that but maybe someone in my place would have made a big deal out of this. Just as an advice do purchase the item to help you...
