Quayside A Gem in the Heart of Bowness Nestled by the picturesque shores of Lake Windermere, Quayside Bowness is more than just a bar and restaurant; it’s a delightful experience that captures the essence of this magical location. Having visited the Lake District numerous times, I can confidently say that Quayside has become our go-to spot, and with good reason.
From the moment you arrive, the setting is nothing short of enchanting. You have the option to sit indoors, where the cozy ambiance creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, or you can choose to dine al fresco, soaking in the stunning views of the lake and surrounding hills. Each seating area offers a unique vibe, which allows you to tailor your experience based on your mood.
What truly sets Quayside apart is its exceptional staff. The team is consistently friendly and accommodating, making every visit feel personal. They are always ready to help, ensuring that nothing is ever too much trouble. It’s this level of service that enhances the overall dining experience and makes you want to return time and again.
Now, let’s talk about the food—a standout feature of Quayside. The value for money is impressive, and I've found that 99% of the meals we’ve tried have been spot on. Each dish embodies quality and taste, and here are a few recommendations that you absolutely should not miss: • Garlic Bread: A classic starter that perfectly sets the tone for your meal. • Country Pâté: Rich and flavorful, offering a taste of rustic charm. • Cheesy Nachos: Ideal for sharing (or not!), these are a must-have. • Beef Chilli Nachos: Topped with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, this dish takes the nacho experience to another level. • Lamb Henry: Tender and delicious, it's comfort food at its finest. • Dirty ‘Smashed’ Burger & Chicken Burger: Both burgers offer mouthwatering options for meat lovers. • Chicken Caesar Salad: A lighter yet satisfying choice. • Meat Feast Pizza: Perfectly cooked with an abundance of toppings. • Chocolate Fudge Cake with Ice Cream: A decadent way to end your meal.
Whether you are a local or a visitor, it’s a place that invites you to linger, relax, and indulge. Make sure it’s on your list the next time you find yourself in Bowness, you...
Read moreWhat should have been a lovely occasion spoiled by the condescending manager. We visited the Quayside on New Year’s Eve, two couples with our toddlers and assistance dog during a special trip to the Lake District. Upon arrival we were questioned about our dog and explained he is an assistance dog, and the servers were absolutely fine with this. We offered to pop his badges on and the server said there was no need.
We sat and enjoyed our meal, our food was nice - we had the lamb Henry and the sirloin steak. We had just finished our meal, and suddenly the manager popped round to say ‘did nobody tell you you can’t have dogs here??’ In a very condescending tone. We explained the situation very calmly and he accepted this, but he never apologised, he said he had just came on shift and didn’t know - seems like he was desperate to come round and give us a row. As any parent will know it’s impossible to keep toddlers still for long so we were walking about the carpeted area with our babies (no other table in the area was occupied). Suddenly the manager reappeared saying ‘listen I know it’s an assistance dog but just stay in your area - other people are complaining’. He acted as if we were swanning around the restaurant, when in reality my toddler had walked out a little further than the carpet, under my supervision holding the dog on the lead. We didn’t argue and said we were leaving anyway - we didn’t want this to ruin our night but it left a real sour taste in our mouth. Our dog wasn’t making any fuss; our babies were far louder.
It’s just sad the attitude of the manager distracted from the meal and the occasion. I’m sure the staff will know who I’m referring to - his attitude wasn’t mirrored by the rest of the staff - the young team were perfectly polite, sweet to our children and happy to help us. Having spent over £160 in the place we expected better on such a special night - maybe he was annoyed he was landed with the New...
Read moreAfter a long day hiking yesterday in the Lakes, I decided to visit Quayside for some food sometime after 7.30pm. I approached the bar which a bar person seems to be moody about my arrival and uninterested in working there. I asked him about wanting a table and he came across rather very rude telling me to listen to him whilst he is explaining how the service worked, like I was a child. I then went to find a table then went back to the bar and ordered my food and again he was rude to me. I was going to ask for a manager but I was very hungry and just wanted to eat. I ordered hot chicken wings for a starter which was delicious and a young girl checked to see if I was okay. Once I finished, my starter was cleared and was asked if I was ready for my Seabass, in which I was. About 10/15 mins later it arrived and looked nice, however when I turned the skinned fish around it was burnt out, dried and tasteless. It looked to me that they forgotten about it and overcooked it. I waited for someone to ask if my main meal was okay and no one did in which I decided to just eat it and leave. I work in the industry myself and was shocked with the unprofessional service from the man behind the bar with such a cocky rude attitude who thinks it is okay to speak to people the way he did. Shocking. Usually someone check back after placing the main meal to their guests to ensure they are happy. This is the first time no one did here which gave me the impression they knew that I was given an overcooked fish. I have been here before and enjoyed my previous visits but next time I shall take my custom...
