This restaurant is a hidden gem. If you love Thai food then this is the place for you. They have a varied menu of traditional Thai classics at affordable prices. My friend and I ordered three starters of battered king prawns with a sweet chilli dip, classic Thai fish cakes and whitebait in a spicy Thai dressing. The starters were cooked perfectly, the prawns weren't rubbery or hard, but cooked just right. The balance of sweet, sour and spicy was just right without being too overpowering. For our main course we ordered a green curry with beef with coconut rice and and Pandang curry with king prawns with egg fried rice. Both main dishes could not be faulted no stodgy over cooked rice here thankfully. The beef and prawns were cooked to perfection. We were made very welcome and the service was impeccable. This Thai restaurant ticks all the right boxes, we will deffinatly be returning in the future. This was our third time at Rice Thai tonight. Once again if we were to rate the food and service at Rice Thai from 1 to 10, we wouldn't hesitate to give them a 10 for both. The mixed starter for 2 was excellent and tasty. The staff are always so friendly and accomadating. We ordered the set menu for 2. Compliments to the chef, everything from the beef to the prawns were cooked perfectly. We couldn't find any fault in the food or service. Good sized portions which will leave you very satisfied without feeling to full. Rice Thai is certainly one of three great Thai restaurants in Bedford.

This has been our first time visiting this restaurant as we wanted to try more Thai food as we find it particularly tasty and healthy. We entered and straight away the decor called my attention, it was sober but classy at the same time, the right mixture, in my humble opinion. It has been a very nice experience due to the excellent service that deserves praise on its own, we received a warm welcome from the attentive waitress and soon after we were presented with the menus which are extensive and you feel spoilt for choice. We went for the seafood platter for two as a starter, as we are seafood lovers. It looked impressive, but it paled in comparison with the flavour, a must try. After it my wife went for duck and I chose lamb, both dishes were flavourful and we accompanied them with two side dishes of rice, garlic for me and coconut for my other half. The drinks menu is extensive and gives ample choice. It goes without saying that we will be back for more.

We visited Thai rice for the first time yesterday evening. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was lively and the food was absolutely delicious. Some incredible flavours that were perfectly balanced. We tried a bottle of wine (that every other table around us had too, see photo) I was impressed to discover that the wine was supplied by the wine merchant a couple of doors up, and were informed the beer also came from Beerfly. It was nice to know that just by eating here we were helping so many other small businesses. Following a starter and a main that were just incredible my husband asked for the sticky rice and mango dessert. Although I was very full again the flavours and temperature of the dish was just so delicious I couldn’t help but tuck in too. This restaurant is a must try if you have never been!

I was looking forward to revisiting Rice Thai it's been beautifully refurbished lately. There are two restaurant rooms in adjacent buildings and we were in the newer building on this occasion. You cannot fault the staff and service, they are so lovely there and offer you advice on the best combo's of dishes. The menu is a little confusing when it comes to allergies and dietary requirements because one dish had Ve next to it but clearly stated it had egg in it. I'd need to do a bit more investigation before taking my Coeliac daughter here. The mixed meat sharing starter is amazing I've had this twice now. For seconds I ordered jadmierice and lemon grass chicken. The chicken was a little underwhelming, I think I expected the flavours to be less subtle. Next time I go I'll ask for advice on more flavoursome dishes.

Only downside was that despite booking we had to wait for a table (I got the impression we'd been overlooked) and when we were seated we were in the window (good) next to a table of happy but inappropriate drunk middle aged men (not good) who insisted on giving us their leftover wine and a half drunk bottle of beer...which he kindly wiped his spit off for us. Apparently they're regulars so maybe check they're not in the night you book if you want a nice peaceful dinner!

The staff did look apologetic and one staff member came over when they'd gone to ask if they were OK to us. So that was...

We were at Rice Thai tonight to celebrate Mother's Day. First it took them awhile to find our reservation. The two Asian ladies kept saying a different name. We repeated our name numerous times before they realised they got it wrong. Melinda? No. Melinda? No. It was annoying. No apologies from them. Then came our mixed platter for starter that all looked the same, covered in thick batter like from a fish and chips shop. The coating for tempura was not good, way too thick. The fish cakes tasted like rubber. I can make better ones than that. Pad Thai was way too oily, and my daughter thought that her tofu stir fry was with noodles, and it came without noodles. No one explained it to her whilst she was ordering that she can order rice or noodles and server made her feel bad saying 'you need to say rice or noodles!', saying it rudely. Again, no apologies. My husband's curry tasted like korma. Nothing special. I should have just cooked at home because that was disappointing. The atmosphere isn't the same anymore. It was too noisy. People coming in and out, and suddenly they're chatting in the middle aisle so loudly. Too many distractions whilst you're eating. It used to be so nice, quiet and cosy. They played 'I will always love you' a few times too. Took ages to get the bill. We were the last ones there. Overall, not good. I guess that's the last time we're going, and it's been a few years since...
