Visited first week of April. Had a Rio macho meal.
The good: Fries were good, better than the average in a chicken shop.
The ugly: Burger was ok, but could have been much better. The patties was really thick and dense. Can see it has alot of good meat and no fat. But heavens sake work the patties a bit so they become crisp and juicy.
They have probably ordered the cheapest wholesale buns available! Really small, taste plasticy and litteraly no seeds on top. Guys, the next grade up probably isn't that much more expensive. Choose bigger buns so you can make the patties a bit larger but still using the same amount of meat, because right now your patties are too thick and dense.
A few years back meal was £5, quality would have been fine for that price. But now meal for £8.69, it needs...
Read moreFirst visit in a while and since it changed hands. Same good burger menu and decent chips/fries. Liked the addition of the Angus burger option with Blueston dressing. A tad disappointed at the lack of napkins, untidy and unwiped surfaces and neglected sauce replenishment in the sit down area. This last factor alone the reason for only 3 stars, instead of 4. I've been coming to Rio's for 20 years or so and hope the new ownership hits the right balance of new energy/ pride/attention to detail and sticking with the decent menu. Maybe some flame grilling would help the adequate burgers shine through too? Would go again, but only out of loyalty and a willingness to support a local business and see...
Read moreBurger shack down an alleyway off Bartholomew Rd. Owner was friendly and helpful. Lots of takeaway biz going on, but there were three small tables for dine-ins. Three choices of patty size & quality, 4oz, 8oz (x2) and a 6oz Angus to keep prices down. Large range of variations for this who are into that, but I don’t tend to like bacon & cheese. They custom-built my double 4oz patty with lettuce, gherkins, onion, tomato and burger sauce. These guys know how to cook an average patty so it’s juicy and to properly build a burger. Toasted OK bun and a VERY acceptable sandwich overall. Good portion of crispy enough fries. Gonna go back and have a double Angus next!...
