WALLOP Knutsford SENSATIONAL Small Plates We’ve just come back from trying the new TIDBITS menu at Wallop in Knutsford, and honestly we couldn’t fault any of the dishes, it was one of the tastiest meals we’ve had in ages. Every dish was thoughtful, creative, and packed with flavour. You could tell straight away this was something special by the quality of the ingredients. The smoked chicken with Madeira mayonnaise was exceptional, so rich and smooth, with a gorgeous mix of wild mushrooms. The venison… WOW that was great too, perfectly cooked and served with earthy beetroot, proper melt-in-your-mouth stuff. We also tried the pear and blue cheese salad and the caramelised red onion and beetroot tart which were both fabulous. Finally we had the Morecambe brown shrimps and crispy pork belly with sticky scrumpy apple glaze, oh my gosh that was a BIG smack round the chops!! All STUNNING!! As persuaded by James, our ever attentive waiter and barman (who we have to say pours a great pint of Guinness!!) we had the Vimto trifle to finish which was a proper throwback to childhood. So good! Wallop isn’t just Knutsford’s best bar anymore, it's become a full experience. From sipping drinks on the stunning terrace to sampling some of the town’s best food, every visit feels special. The warmth and attentiveness of Ben, James, and the entire team only add to the charm. We’re already planning our return, there are still so many dishes we can’t wait to try! We also want to give a massive shout-out to Robert Owen-Brown, the new Executive Chef who created and produced these taste sensations!! If you're looking for an evening that combines amazing food, a relaxed vibe, great live music and genuinely lovely service...
Read moreA really disappointing experience. Great that Wallop allow dogs and the live singer was great, however the food was a disaster from start to finish. The waitress didn't tell us any of the menu that was not available until she came to take our order, after 30 minutes she returns to let us know 'there has been a problem with the printer in the kitchen and your order hasn't gone through', they did provide us with free drinks so we ordered a coffee each. After about 20 minutes, the drinks finally came but she told me they were just on the look out for some extra milk for my coffee. Once the food finally arrived it was disgusting and the crab omelette was missing which we raised with her. She said it was on its way but it was clear with the time that it had taken to bring it out that they were making it fresh in the kitchen. The omelette finally comes out and the raw egg spills out and fills the plate. Genuinely the worst food experience I have ever had. I am grateful to the manager for giving us everything for free as the floor staff had made it clear to him that we had had a terrible experience. Will absolutely not...
Read moreMe and Sarah ate at Rey Del Cerdo when it was based at Hatch in Manchester, we were gutted when they relocated to knutsford, as it became a favourite of ours, without question, the freshest, tastiest food we've had in Manchester, We have a couple of days off work, so we drove down from Bolton, We were served drinks immediately, and we made it clear we wanted tacos, but it became obvious we'd been forgotten so I went downstairs to the bar and requested a menu, I returned upstairs and we made up our minds as to what we were having, then waited for a waitress, and waited.... Other groups seemed to get drinks orders immediately same as us, there didn't seem to be an issue with staffing, the place wasn't overly busy, but i didn't actually see anyone eating! This was at around 3 in the afternoon. We were there for over an hour before deciding to go, nothing was said to us by the barmaid when we paid for drinks even though she knew we wanted to eat. The ineptness of the bar/waiting staff will affect Rey del cerdo, and in the current climate, this is the last thing...
