Smoke — Restaurant in England

I called at the beginning of December to book a table for six on New Year’s Eve. At the time, I was offered the option to purchase tickets for their New Year’s Eve event, which included a drink and nibbles. However, I chose to opt for a sit-down meal instead.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were asked for event tickets. I explained that we did not have tickets, as we had booked a table for food. We were then informed that the kitchen was closed and that their plans had changed after I made the reservation. When I asked why I wasn’t notified, especially since they had my contact information, I was told they weren’t sure if I had already been informed.

The bar staff did nothing to resolve the situation, offering only a half-hearted apology and stating there was nothing they could do. As a result, my party and I were left without meal plans at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. We were extremely disappointed and will not...

One of my regular eating establishments. Attended this morning with my elder daughter for breakfast. We both chose to build a brunch with me opting for the Full English approach whilst number one daughter had a mix on her plate. As always, the food on offer here is exceptional. We both enjoyed the fresh orange juice which was particularly refreshing. Service was prompt and courteous and the place had a nice buzz considering it was earlyish in the day. Well done everyone. We will return.

So today was judgement day as me and my two daughters returned to Smoke as one of our 12 finalists for best English Breakfast in the area. As can be seen from the accompanying photographs we all had variations on build a brunch. Service was prompt and polite as usual. The food was delicious, as always. Visited today evening on account of my birthday with my family. This cafe is right on the main road with many restaurants on both sides. A cute dinosaur prototype is kept on the terrace in the veranda outside. Must be ideal to visit in summer and sit outside enjoying the fresh air. Very centrally located.

Waiters were polite and gave an excellent and fast service. Wine was wonderful and the appetizers and side dishes were also good . Found the cheese to be very salty though. Red peppers were amazing. Would advise to increase vegetarian options in the menu. There are a few but would prefer more options considering the growing number of people turning vegetarian and vegan day by day.
