We've enjoyed Wood Fire Smoke pizza restaurant loads of times now and it ticks all the boxes. I would recommend booking as it gets very busy, especially at the weekend as the restaurant is relatively small. There is a recently added terrace on the wide pavement outside where you can people watch in good weather. The restaurant design is modern - shared long wooden benches and tables give an informal and cool industrial feel. The service is excellent - friendly, quick but relaxed. Now for the best part! The pizza dough is proved for 2 days and takes only 60 seconds to cook. The pizzas are the best I've EVER tasted. They use quality ingredients and the results are delicious and considering the number of times we've sampled them they are uniformly good - never a duff one. The dough is extremely tasty and chewy. The basil and Aioli dips are an extremely tasty accompaniment and are not manufactured "gloop" but great quality and fresh. The pizza prices are inexpensive and you can also take your own alcohol for for a small per person corkage fee.
We recently held a summer "White Party" and arranged for WFS to cater. They were really friendly, helpful and flexible and it was a great talking point for our guest who said the pizzas were amazing.
I can't recommend Wood Fire Smoke...
Read moreI really hate to do this, unfortunately, but I've made a commitment to give one star to any restaurant that asks for a "service charge". As an adult customer who believes in my good judgment, I am offended if someone asks for a "mandatory optional" tip. I can decide for myself how much extra I want to leave. If I am dissatisfied, it can be a few pence, if I am extremely happy with the food and service, I sometimes leave £15. The moment I went to pay, very satisfied, I learned when I received the bill that I had been charged a little over six pounds extra. Of course, when asked if I agreed with this, I said yes. (Who wouldn't...) I enjoyed the food, the service was great and friendly, and I would very much like to go back, but this disgusting practice ruined the rest of my day. It's a big shame, because I would have definitely left the tips myself, even more that I was forced to pay and could be gone home satisfied. At the top of it, I was charged for focaccia on a separate plate I didn't ask and we were told its "ok". What a shame this happened in my favourite Italian restaurant in Cheshire. I hope I will have opportunity to modify my review for 5...
Read moreWe travelled to visit Wood Fire Smoke in Wilmslow after a previous great experience over a year ago, and were so disappointed. On a sunny weekend lunchtime it was completely empty with several waitresses standing around the till chatting. The service was so poor - in 1.5 hours they were so busy on their phones or chatting to each other that they didn't ask if we'd like any more drinks, or whether the food was ok after it had been served - it wasn't...one pizza was ok, the other, a simple Margherita was so blackened and burnt on the top and around the whole crust it was mostly inedible. We were surprised to be charged extra for garlic and chilli oil and our bill (which didn't come to our table 20 minutes after we asked for it) had added a service charge over 10% of our bill. We agree with other posts on here, that shouldn't happen in the UK. Please allow us to voluntarily add or leave a tip if we would like to, don't add it to our bill then leave the onus on your customers to ask to remove it due to burnt pizza and extremely...
