We've eaten at Taco Bell across the US, and Canada too, and it's one of our favourite places to eat when on holiday.
We're native born Hull folks, & were looking forward to trying out our first UK Taco Bell.
We've been in the last hour, and here's a little review if you're thinking of going.
First impressions was that the car park was way too small, but yes, of course they've got the land, they've got, they can't change that. We had to park half on a kerb/planted area, half in a bay, owing to poor parking by another car. Please note that there's a car parking touch screen on the counter where you need to enter your reg to prevent a parking ticket. Money making thing I reckon. Who in their right mind is going to park in the car park, and go elsewhere, there is no where else to go, anyway I digress.
There was a notice saying food would take 35 minutes! What!? Just crazy, Taco Bell is fast food, over half an hour isn't fast! Dear me. Anyway we were hungry, & decided to stick it out. We had to queue to enter our order into the touch screen, that's how busy it was.
We were lucky, and found a table & we waited for the order.
I ordered a Volcano Beef Burrito, the Wife a Cheesey Flatbread type of thing, and the kids just went for loaded fries, & our older daughter a burrito.
It was eventually ready, in about 15 minutes, so it wasn't as bad as the sign indicated.
We love the Nacho Fries in the US, and this is pretty much what the Cheesey & Loaded Fries are here.... albeit, one big difference, the ones in North America are crispy, and have the ability to be dipped and picked up without being one big soggy mess, which unfortunately these were... I usually tell the kids off for making a mess, but boy, or boy, both me and their Mum were covered in cheese sauce. Very messy. Why the fries weren't crisp? who knows, too much demand, not enough time to fry them properly?
My Volcano Burrito, wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. We're used to the "wrap" being stuffed, and indeed the photos indicate just that, but the reality was that it was flat, soggy, and falling to pieces.
My daughter went with a Burrito too, one with rice. In the US, they're round in section, should you cut one in half, again hers was like a flat bread with little filling.
All in all, it was a disappointment, and we won't be going back... not because it was that bad, but it's not what it should be frankly. It should be one heck of a lot better... crispier fries, fuller burritos, and faster!
You pays ya money, and takes ya chances... but not for us.
Thanks...
Read moreLeft very upset. Been to this Taco Bell many times. Most of the staff are nice except Vicky. Every time we are served by Vicky there is constant tutting, sighing and on multiple occasions nearly swearing. We have been told by Vicky that things we want like a meal feasted up with a dessert cannot be done even though we ask for this every time and other staff are somehow able to do this. When Vicky says she can’t do something I kindly say it’s okay I’ll leave it cause she starts huffing, nearly swearing and sighing. I appreciate that there’s a lot to remember and technology can be difficult but none of her attitude has been demonstrated by any other staff. Vicky without fail makes me and my order feel like an inconvenience. I always greet the staff with a smile and was happy to wait while Vicky tried to use the till as she had to re enter the order 3 times cause she didn’t know how to do it (although didn’t get an apology for the long wait when she didn’t know how to use the till and had to get another member of staff to help her). Because Vicky was unable to feast our meals I decided to order the desserts on the machine separately which were for some reason cheaper this way. We checked our previous order was correct while waiting but didn’t hear our new order due to the music volume. A nice customer saw that I was checking if our order was done and said oh I think they just got rid of it so I called out my order number to be greeted by more attitude off Vicky, I apologised. She rolled her eyes and got me my food and handed me it with a dirty look. Feeling scorned I left the store feeling saddened that the place I liked to eat is now somewhere I don’t want...
Read moreMince was tinned today, we could tell it was very tiny and soggy. Didn't taste like meat.
I can only describe as tinned chilli con carne vegan mince
I'm guessing they have ran out of food and have had to get emergency food elsewhere locally until they receive there delivery.
Very hit and miss this place no consistency at all when it's good it's absolutely great!
When it's bad it's very bad and costly because your meal that you've paid over £40 for is not eat-able at all.
Again this goes down to staff attitude, This place looks like it runs a 2/3 shift rota, with 3 different managers on each, it's a shame its not managed successfully, you need to get rid of the bad apples that don't want to be there. Including one of the managers has a disgusting attitude towards her work colleagues and customers "get rid"
there's also some unhygienic people serving with Blue gloves handling money been coins and paper notes then going to handle the food with the same hands that have had mucky money in them, you should not be handling money and preparing food!! With the same gloves!!!
*"DO SOMETHING" NO EXCUSE FOR POOR HYGIENE
THERE IS CAMERAS IN THE WORK PLACE,
so it's not hard to look back over the past week/month to check who's been breaking HYGIENE standards.
There's much potential to this place with the right management and staff,
And I'm sure your profits would sky rocket if you can sort this out.
Your only as good as...
