What a little find... A little corner of Mexico in Ambleside. We had the chicken burrito, beef tacos and quesadilla. They were all mouthwatering! Now, if you like your heat, I mean serious heat, ask the owner for a wee pot of the fresh yellow habanero spice. I demolished my pot but be warned it is not for the faint of heart. I however loved it and it took my lunch to the moon. Thank you for the experience! -Updated- Back again this year and it is just as good, so much so we went everyday and for the price you just cannot complain at all. Worth every penny for the atmosphere, the friendly service, the food and the secret mash chilli! Yum! -Update 3- Back 3rd year in a row and two days straight for lunch. Just as good as the first time and that chilli mash, by good it's good! Just come as close to mid day as possible to avoid disappointment

Best meal we had in the Lakes. Exceptionally fresh veges and bread, and quality welcoming service. Family run business supporting local businesses (the meat is sourced from a farm down the road). We ordered one of each dish (tacos, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas), they were all made to order with lots of care. Portions were well sized and meat/vege/rice/cheese/bread ratios were all on point. My personal favourite were the nachos or the tacos, though others in my group swear by the chicken burrito, and some leaned toward the quesadillas so there’s something for everyone. However, Tacos del Sol is one of those special places where whatever you order, you’re in safe hands. Cannot compliment Marisol and Chris enough for the wonderful food and the first class hospitality.

My boyfriend and I couldn't resist trying this place when we saw the sign for Mexican street food..I am so glad we went in!! The food was the best I have had in such a long time! We were made to feel so welcome from start to finish of our visit. The owners Chris and Marisol ( chef and Mexican ❤️😁) made us feel so valued and gave us suggestions and advice on what we could order, being foodies we really enjoyed this..they were spot on with their advice !! The vibe was that of a real authentic family buisness and it was honestly a joy to eat there. The establishment is small but there is enough space for a couple of diners inside and out.we ended up stuffing ourselves as couldn't help but keep ordering more things! We can not wait to return!!!

An experience worth raving about. From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and hospitality of the owners made us feel right at home. They took the time to chat with us, sharing their passion for authentic Mexican cuisine and their commitment to sourcing fresh, local ingredients.

The cook, who is originally from Mexico, truly knows her craft. The food is bursting with genuine flavors, transporting you straight to the heart of Mexico. The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite, and it's no surprise they often run out due to the high demand. On our first visit, they had unfortunately run out of food, but the owners made up for it with some of the best margaritas we've ever had.

Determined to taste their renowned dishes, we returned for a second visit. It was hands down the best Mexican food I've had in the UK, and some of the best I've ever had anywhere.

The owners of Tacos del Sol are the heart and soul of this gem. Their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction shines through in every aspect. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience with top-notch service, look no further than Tacos del Sol. It's a must-visit for...

Absolutely, top-tier Mexican food! From the moment we walked in the door we were given a warm welcome by Chris working front of house. He started us off with some fantastic margaritas served in proper Mexican glasses while his wife, Marisol prepared some pork burritos, all made fresh to order and customised to your tastes.

The food was incredible, freshly made with local ingredients where possible, including home grown chilis. I'm not much of a spice guy so went for a milder level, but my (Hispanic) wife went off the charts with the special professional level spice and loved every minute of it.

I also want to take a minute to talk about the amazing welcome we had. It was a pleasure to meet Chris, Marisol, and the other lady in the kitchen (sorry, I can't remember your name), and share stories of living in America. They are clearly small business owners who have passion for what they do, pouring love into their food, and treating their customers as friends.

My only problem is that we're only in Ambleside a couple of times a year and I'm simply not going to get Mexican food this good anywhere else in the UK. I can't wait to go...

Wow!! The 400+ 5-star reviews say it all! This is what happens when a couple follow their dream- in this case a wife from Mexico city & American husband (with UK ties, I believe).

The vibe immediately when you walk in this cosy, bustling place is fantastic! Customers chatting to each other about Eurovision while the owner -righteously- beams with pride. The meat is hand smoked and the pico de gallo and guac homemade and 100% authentic. I've had Mexican in Mexico and California, and this is every bit as good. My only disappointment was that they used cheddar instead of Monterey Jack (the only cheese even close to proper Mexican that you can get in the UK) for the quesadillas, so I didn't order those, as I can make them at home.

Tips - they often sell out by 3, so don't miss out. The meat has a kick-even when you get your burrito mild. Not a lot of seating but you can take it to the nearby park or to a bench outside. Not easy to find parking but the owner kindly gave me a parking...
