Writing the angriest review I have ever done. I never write reviews but this time I had to. I am usually quite a fan of the boat club as the drinks and location is great but my recent visit wants to warn people to never visit such a rude and ridiculous place.

All in all, we had paid 8Ā£ for drinks that never arrived to our table despite waiting 1hr and 40 minutes. Throughout the night, it was chaos with the staff …. we were constantly turning down wrong drinks that were delivered to our table as the staff kept giving us the wrong order. We understood the staff were busy, and thus we did not rush them with any of our drink orders despite waiting possibly 15-20 mins for each order.

However, in one instance, we had not received 2 drinks..Upon realisation that our drinks had not arrived, we had calmly approached the staff to inquire where our 2 Long Island ice teas were, expecting them to simply make us the drinks we had paid for. Instead, they proceeded to gaslight a group of 8 of us who had sworn to have never received the drinks. After 30 minutes of trying to explain our story, the staff and manager who were incredibly degrading and rude refused to compensate for our drinks and instead, proceeded to blame us for not keeping track of our drinks and not asking them where our drinks were sooner. Barring in mind we ordered almost 20 drinks among us on our phones via the QR code.

I am incredibly disappointed, especially with the attitude of the manager, who was just rude and not understanding.

At the end of the day, we left feeling upset and angry with the service we were given and was also 8Ā£ short with no compensation. The staff were incredibly unprofessional and rude to us and I would highly discourage everyone to stop visiting such a place despite the good drinks and location.

They will steal your money and make it seem like it was your fault! Never again. I still want CCTV footage of them claiming to have given us our drinks.

To the owner of the boathouse, u have a lovely business with terrible staff running it with no customer service, let alone staff with basic rationality and politeness.

WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK FOR DRINKS WE DID NOT RECEIVE. It’s only 8Ā£ but it’s...

I called in here on my recent visit with my sister to Durham. It's set down on the riverbank so unless you know it's there it's not immediately noticeable. There's steps down to it from the bridge or you can reach it through the shopping centre if you go down the steps from the carpark, there is a lot of floors to go down to reach it so if you're not too fit there is a lift.

It's well worth a visit, it's lovely inside very modern, with a veranda with outside seating that overlooks the river. We sat inside on high tables next to french doors which open out with lovely views.

There was a good choice of food but we settled on a warm steak sandwich with a beautiful sweet onion chutney, a bowl of fries and a side salad. Now I never get excited about a side salad but this was a good mix of salad with a tangy dressing on top. I have to say I've never eaten a steak sandwich so gorgeous it was really tasty.

The only slight downside was it was served on a board with a piece of parchment on it then the meal on top, really could have done without this because it got a little bit messy with the steak and sauce dripping out,but it's only a minor thing. It was a bit pricier than I would normally want to pay about £12 for the meal and a drink but it was...

Visited last night for my Birthday 11.08.25 and I can’t fault the views , shame about the food! We last visited the Newcastle one last year and included in the sharing board for Ā£79 quid included lobster or lobster tail… can’t remember which but it was amazing!! now it doesn’t? For what we got it wasn’t great unfortunately. Most of the meats were chewy and fatty! To charge nearly Ā£4 for a sauce is diabolical especially when the price remains the same without lobster. The Parmesan fries with truffle ( hardly any Parmesan on or truffle!! And they were dry! I get the additional price for extra sauces but you don’t even get 1 with the food!! I get it’s a cost of living crisis but it’s just not good!! Ā£104 quid with none alcoholic drinks!! For 2 people! Sorry but the food was just not up to standard! Prawns in the the sauce were awful too!! And I love seafood !! Service was also slow but the girls were friendly enough, although she took our order didn’t write it down ( tried to familiarise her with it then had to come back and double check the order! My partner was going to complain but it was birthday and I just felt disappointed and wanted to leave!! Wouldn’t return...

Was really disappointed here unfortunately used to always love the boat club but first time going since it become a tomahawk steakhouse.....i opted for the 12oz sirloin at £28 plus a peppercorn sauce for £3 firstly the steak was full of grizzle the peppercorn sauce may as well of been water it was that runny with no actual peppercorns in it. Drinks wise I got a pint of corona which tasted funny lets say flat.... So I opted for a peroni when this come @£5 a pint and the glass must have just come out the dishwasher the pint was absolutely roasting and I didn't even drink it. Im never one to leave a bad review but unfortunately this topped me off last night and I wouldn't recommend it.

I'd quite like to give this 3.5 stars but I wouldn't round up to 4. Staff and restaurant were great. Friendly staff and good service. But the food just didn't amaze me. The sharer steak board was £60. You got to try four 3oz cuts of meat each and it came with 4 sides. The sides weren't huge but they were enough. It was all perfectly fine, but it just didn't taste amazing. I've had more enjoyable steaks at steak night at a pub. If I could, I'd say food 2.5 stars, staff and restaurant 4 stars. Probably wouldn't go back as you can get better for cheaper.
