The Old Guy's Review
Pleasant and polite staff with good attentive service at the start of the meal up to order stage. Used plates and cutlery remained on table as main course was served, until requested removal and request for some clean cutlery. Attention to detail lapsed during the meal and at the end, except for the obligatory is everything ok just as you are taking a mouthful of food. At the end of our meal it appeared that my colleague and myself had outlived our value as a waiter came and tried to pour the remainder of our wine into our glasses until asked to stop.
The food was good and majority of the portions were reasonable. A minor point was raised about the popadoms for £1.00 with dips. As it just stated popadoms and dips £1.00, we asked how many you got, presumed at least 2 as popadoms as the plural means more than one, but were politely informed that they were £1.00 each? Then served us three between the two of us! Having asked for two portions! This was politely raised with the staff who then presented an "on the house" pattie to each of us?
A pleasant early evening meal was had, not sure about a return visit, as cost including wine can only be afforded very occasionally on a standard state pension.
Atmosphere and decor pleasant friendly and clean. Lavatory facilities very good and modern in appearance...
Read moreVery good food, tasted fresh, was beautifully flavoured and the presentation was good too.
The restaurant itself looks clean and modern with an Indian style.
The staff was friendly and helpful but one guy was sitting on a table in clear sight, folding towels and on his phone every now and then. Not very professional. But our waiter was very friendly and helpful, knew about all the dishes and their ingredients and gave a warning for food allergies, which is always a plus.
For the rest the menu looks nice and is not too big and not too small. There is enough choice and variety but not too much which makes it difficult to choose. The only downpoint on the menu was that out of the 6 desert options we had, only 5 were sold out.
Finally pricing was very reasonable. I was with 2 friends and we both had starters, a main and each of us a pint, all for about 54 quid total. So that's about 18 each. And the quality definitely outperforms the price in my opinion.
Will without a doubt...
Read moreThe food was delicious so I'll keep a star for that but the experience as a whole was not good. Booked a table in advance but when we arrived staff claimed there was no reservation and were short tempered about it, even though the restaurant was totally empty and it was just two of us. Girl behind the counter could be heard loudly complaining about hating working here. Then during the meal another customer behaved very inappropriately towards me which fair enough the staff can't control, but it was not handled very well at all. It seemed they were laughing about it amongst themselves, gossiping and speculating about my fiancé and I. It felt like schoolyard bullying and made both of us really uncomfortable and we left feeling pretty frustrated and embarassed. Not a great birthday meal, will definitely avoid in future and go somewhere more professional...
