We went to Alton Towers and as usual my family and I wanted to make a night of it. Long day, Hungry! 1 Hungry man, Mrs and 4 kids! Called the restaurant up, friendly conversation and they managed to book us a table for 9.30 without any hesitation, as easy as that. Arrived was seated within 5mins into a family booth. Mij and Amaan took care of us. Turned off the AC without us asking so food doesn't get cold. Starters came on time. Main courses 1/2kg Lamb Karahi, Chicken Jelfrazi, Butter Naan and Mij gave us Complimentary Daal. Hot plates provided so food didn't go cold and the portion sizes of the mains are amazing compared to London! During our time, Mij, Amaan and the staff kept checking on us to see if we needed anything and made it a very enjoyable atmosphere for the kids and us. Alhumdulilah lovely experience and to top it off sorted the kids with ice creams and a Mrs with a milkshake. Wish we could have this service in London but truly they welcomed us and made us feel at ease even though we were tourists! They have a downstairs and upstairs, plenty of seating. Amazing bathrooms and decor. Also to top it off a Prayer room if you would like to offer your prayers. May Allah Azzawajal put Barakah(blessings) in their lives and business and give them the best in this world and the next Ameen! Definitely be dropping by next time and already recommended it to my friends and family. Well worth it and affordable. Keep up the good work guys, wish I took pics of the food and deco!

Our first visit here. Really nice decor and furniture. The velvety blue "booths" feel very lush and private. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much for them. The atmosphere was great - we arrived just after opening time and within a short time the restaurant was full even though it was a Monday evening and I can see why it is so popular. Complimentary popadums/sauces to start and a chai tea to finish. Our menu choices arrived very quickly and all were presented beautifully. The portion sizes are generous. All the meat was so tender and tasty. I had the lamb shank which was amazing - deliciously soft and exactly how I requested it. Others included biriyani, noodles and butter chicken. Mocktails were lovely. We were too full for dessert but will definitely try some next time! This is our new go to place to dine out. Highly recommended. The restroom was lovely too. Plus for those needing it there is a prayer area upstairs.

Went to Tarka for the first time. Lovely deco nice chilled out music. Service was spot on, all the staff really polite checking in to see how we were and how the food was, water constantly topped up (and no you didnt have to pay for it!) and I got myself a free desi tea on the house! 😁 Sheraz made sure we enjoyed our first visit :) great customer service. I had the iftari tray.. it was bit of a challenge to finish considering I was fasting all day, but everything on it was tasty 👍 My son said he was stuffed but still managed to eat the "delicious" chocoholic waffle..and wasn't willing to share!! Lol Oh and they have an autographed boxing glove 🥊 signed by non other than Muhammad Ali himself. My son was impressed. We liked the place, the service and the food. They also have nice prayer rooms upstairs and the upstairs area works well for big parties. Free road parking after 6pm too. No complaints. I would definitely go again.

Came here with my family today, was extremely disappointed. The staff were not welcoming. We got seated and the sauces were already on the table??? Ordered the tawa for 4-5 asked for it to be medium spice.

However this does not mean we wanted under seasoned food which is exactly what we got. No flavour to anything.

The water we were served was in a old bottle and the water had a horrible odour to it. Then informed the waiter and asked him to smell the water and he said 'oh I think the bottle hasn't been washed out' which was shocking and he didn't apologise for this either. He just replaced it with another bottle of water which was exactly the same as the other one.

We had no choice but to order drinks which were at ridiculous prices (£5 for a 1.5L bottle of coke).

After we had finished with our meal we asked to have the left over food to be packed. The waiter took the food back to the kitchen to pack it which I found very odd as usually any other restaurant I have been to would bring the containers to the table and pack the food infront of the customer.

But it makes sense why they took the food to the back because when we came home we found that more than half of the food was missing.

What have they done with the rest of the left over food, that is the worrying question, are they sending that leftover food back out to other customers??

Over all if I could, I would rate this place 0 stars. I was not going to write a review about this place as i never do, but when I found that they had not packed the full amount of leftover food that was just the icing on the cake and made me write this review.

Really really disappointed, and they just over charge for food that is under seasoned and undercooked (the fish was...

Wow, amazing service where nothing was too much, the personal attention to our individual needs made us feel like VIPs. The food was tanterlising & full of a fusion of flavours which excited out taste buds. Everything was made to perfection. Okay now for the plain English, we arrived & were greeted with a smile & led to a table with very comfortable seating. The table was large, very clean & presentable. My 6 years old wanted to know what was upstairs, on noticing this 'Haroon' was only too happy to show me & my son the Restaurant which was impectable throughout. Our food came on time & I can't express enough how delicious the food was. The meat was cooked succulently & the flavours made us want to say 'try this, try this' to each other. We were given complementary poppadoms with a selection of chutney's & later some desi tea. Our 6 year old was given a slice of cake which was presented in a Michelin style, with a candle & the staff sang happy birthday. Sharaz made sure that everything was just right & made us feel like we were the most important thing to him whilst still running the restaurant & no doubt providing the same level of service to all the other guests (his years of experience & expertise certainly shows). The deserts were epic as my 6 year old son put it. The portions were more than we could eat so we asked to take some of it home as we didn't want to miss out on the food, as it was that good. Although we are not from the city, we will be definitely be visiting again & will make this place the go to place to celebrate any occasion as we know there's no other place that can match this. Thank you Tarka for making a magical & memorable experience for...

First time I attended this place Tarka derby!

Let’s start on the food… the starters were excellent with having there own unique taste for every meat we tasted.. the mains were made to perfection.. and tasted beautiful and authentic like Asian style food should… the waiters catered to our needs when serving us our mains. I will defiantly attend this restaurant again and let family and friends know too. I cannot fault the food in anyway as it was delicious and we even took the left overs home!l

The second point I like to mention is Haroon and I think it was Mitch the manager.. these two provided me and my family the best customer service I have had in years.. this is the honest truth… all the staff are very very polite and I highly respect the individuals who catered for our needs as it is very rarely you come across friendly people, who make you feel at home. The waiters and manager made our experience amazing.. we were offered complementary starter/ popdums/ tea and desert… I think it’s because we attended first time.. but wow the customer service is as good as the high quality food which was offered. Truly Amazing people!

These guys working at tarka are unique individuals and may allah give them a happy and prosperous life, with unlimited success! Ameen!

Please anyone reading this comment, definitely try tarka in derby as you will not be disappointed.

Once again thanks to all the staff working at tarka for the pleasant evening they gave us, and we will see you lot...
