Pepitos Restaurant — Restaurant in England

We love Pepitos been going for years on and off, so it pai s me to share this negative review. Social distancing was non-existent all together both by staff and enforment on diners. Hand washing was a poorly signed tub of hand sanitiser for the entire restaurant?? Staff all bunch up together talking whilst not serving, very poor precautions in these very uncertain times.

Now the service and food. Firstly i had to ask the young man taking our drinks order to step back and respect our social distancing which was met with an astonished look? Drinks came 20 mins later?? These were wrong 1st time and then the second time. We had our food order taken after bring in there 40 mins at which point i was told no salmon then seafood so i asked what is there for someone who doesnt eat meat....vegetables i was told!!!!!! When the food did come 25mins later it was totally wrong on every order bar mine which was a plater of fried veg, i dont go out to eat veg!!! We should of been informed of non runners on the menu when the drinks order was taken!!!!

This is not the Pepitos i have grown to love and i wont be going back in these worrying times just because of the virus never...

Used to come to this place years ago and was always spot on (I had read some recent negative reviews on here but chose to ignore them purely on its reputation and my past enjoyable visits) however unfortunately it appears to of gone down hill sadly which is such a real shame as it is still a beautiful restaurant decour wise. Our meals were substandard at best, underwhelming in flavours as I had the cajun chicken popular dish and the portion size was extremely disappointing for the price I paid, nowhere near what it was 4 or 5 years ago when I last went. My partner had a kebab skewer dish and the meat was somewhat tough and not very warm. Also the service was a little sluggish and as a result of this we annoyingly noticed the tendency to get the takeaway orders out as a priority, surely good paying restaurant customers like us should be their main priority initially. This is the best Mexican themed restaurant I have ever been to! We were staying in Derby and saw this place recommended on google and as a Mexican food lover, had to go on my birthday and omg we were not disappointed. They have a great choice menu, including for children and have an activity menu for children too. It wasn’t busy, but we did visit quite late, service was good speed and and very friendly. It’s great to be able to get 2 sides with your meal with a variety of options of those sides. I had the enchiladas with Pepito’s sauce which was sooooo good! 🤤 small pudding menu but there is something there for everyone and you get a decent portion size and, again, so delicious! The whole family wolfed down their meals because everything was so amazing. Cocktails are good. The decor is great, And even the cocktail glasses are cactuses.
