People who read my reviews are no doubt aware that I seem to post a lot about chip shops 🙈, how I keep my girl like figure I will never know 😂😝. So a bit of background, finally found a fish pond that was in our price range, however obviously we had to travel to grab the bargain of a lifetime (or so I told hubby so I could get my own way 😉), as usual I was starving after we had struggled to get the humongous pond on the roof rack, (plus an ear injury due to an over zealous bungee cord deciding it was time to go to bungee heaven and snapping in half and flinging itself at me like a raging rhino), sorry I digress, long suffering hubby decided we had to share fish and chips as he thinks we might finally get to magaluf this year and was scared his mankini won't fit. Sooo we had fish, chips, mushy peas and a barm cake. The fish was as white as the driven snow with light crispy batter, the chips were perfectly cooked and not dripping in grease, the mushy peas.... Hmm let's just say half way home I was frozen to the bone as we decided it was best for our health if we had the windows wide open 🙈🙈, the noise was reminiscent of a Yorkshire brass band at full pelt. So all in all I would recommend a trip to this chippy, and as a side note the pond is nearly in, and looking forward to our next trip for the 'essential' pond...
Read moreCold wet night in Lytham (not Taylors fault). When we walked in, was told to choose any table (was empty BTW) at this point. Nice, bright if tired dining room (no music) so we could hear everything being spoken about by the frying staff behind the counter. Cheerful server took our order, again we could hear all the blah blah blah from the shop area. Food arrived, 2 Haddock, chips & peas, we also ordered a pie & portion of curry to see what they tasted like. Firstly, the pie came out the microwave (heard it ping), and was for the most part inedible. The curry was more trifle consistency than sauce. Next the F & Cs came out with the peas. Strange thing to say, but, the fish smelt fishy and tasteless with thin crispy batter, the chips were semi warm & soft, as if they'd sat there for a while, which I find hard to understand as there were people in & out of the chip shop area ordering food to go. The bread & butter was thin and dry. A few tables came in after us, but everybody was whispering to each other, again because there was not even background music to make it more enjoyable. All in all, didn't enjoy the food or ambience, but the service was great. Won't...
Read moreWe come over from Blackburn (About 25 miles) to visit my brother and his son every few weeks and always look forward to calling in here for a sit down meal in the lovely little seating area. Very clean and tidy, spotless toilet area, friendly and courteous staff and the food is always superb, really top quality fish and chips, piping hot and beautifully battered, including tartar sauce and with a choice of peas or curry sauce as well, bread and butter AND a proper pot of tea for £9.50 ! (That's opting for the medium size fish, which is quite a size !) Absolutely fantastic value for money. Have visited on many occasions, food is always of the same standard / quality and have never been disappointed yet. Highly recommended, superb little local chip shop with the great option of being able to eat the superb food in the neat...
