We went to The Atrium for breakfast at the weekend for breakfast and were extremely let down by the experience.
The menu sounded lovely (including the drinks) but unfortunately it was only the drinks which were any good.
Felt sorry for the staff on the day - there was 1 waiter and 1 person looking after the bar but this clearly wasn’t sufficient to handle a restaurant which was approx 30% full. I can only assume that the understaffing was the same in the kitchen based on the food and timescale.
First of all, it took over 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive but this was not a real issue as they’d had a problem with the coffee machine (which I appreciate is no-one’s fault). However, it then took over an hour for our food to arrive. This would have been fine if it was a good breakfast but it was pretty naff. The toast was cheap, luke warm and was barely warm enough to be called toast. The eggs appeared as though they’d been slapped onto the plate and had broken. Items were missing from 2 out of 4 of the plates on our table. And considering the main draw of the full breakfast was the butcher quality sausage and bacon this was still not a highlight. The bacon was dry and presumably had been cooked a long time prior to plating and the sausages were barely cooked and luke warm. Basically, presentation and quality were awful.
The one saving grace was that you’re supplied with a very generous portion of sauce.
Due to feeling sorry for the waiter we couldn’t be bothered to complain on the day, however the table next to us did and received their food for free.
One thing I will say about the place is that the decor is lovely, so if you want to go somewhere for a drink with a nice atmosphere then this is a good spot. If you’re planning on...

It's Bank Holiday and we all know how barmy it can be when it comes to getting somewhere gorgeous to get in and eat, luckily for us we was able to get a table. This lovely restaurant is beautiful inside, and the food matches with the aesthetics of the whole ambience of the building. Very classy, and the food is first rate.
My husband and I are very blessed when it comes to travelling around the world, we have been to amazing 5 * restaurants including Maldives a few times. I can honestly say this place is wonderful. We had the crab starter and my husband had the chorizo tartlet, then the ham eggs , homemade chips, my husband had the falafel.. Fabulous!
I do want to say that ,we did feel quite bad for the staff today. There was an older man who was quite rude to the young lady behind the bar, then laughed about it to his wife and daughter, because he didn't get a drink quick enough....
Here's the thing, it's Bank Holiday, the staff were attentive, polite and smiled constantly, they were busy but made sure everyone was looked after. They was brilliant, the fact that a older grown man thought it was funny to be rude, obnoxious and the young lady may have thought aggressive as did I, because he didn't get a drink straight away , I thought bullying and so rude! She really was upset by it but honestly she dealt with it admirably.
Afterwards she gave us a tour around The Stables. We will definitely coming back.
Thank you team
Well done 👏

Read moreA previous visit, a year ago, gave us the impression that this is an upmarket establishment. Last time we chose from the small plates menu and were impressed. After our most recent visit we wonder whether this is a haute cuisine fine dining venue or an expensive café bar. Staff were superb, cheerful, helpful and not intrusive. The menu is limited, and we felt unadventurous. (Pie and chips, fish and chips, steak, burger.) We had felafels, squid and both had mac cheese. Felafel lacked flavour but the sweet chilli jam and mint yoghurt did add some. The Mac cheese, with bacon had a lovely flavour. The spring vegetables were good as were the roasted new potatoes. The rosemary focaccia was superb. The two mocktails were excellent. We chose early afternoon so that the restaurant would be quiet and there was abundant space. However the noise of four young children playing in the bar might have disrupted some diners. We were in an adjacent room but still could hear them clearly. We didn’t hear any guidance from the accompanying adults so don’t blame the children. To show balance I also comment on the very mature gentleman with a rucksack on his back taking a phone call in the narrow corridor outside the loos. (On speaker as well.) We enjoyed our meal, staff both visible and not were excellent, but I doubt we...
