The Beckfields — Restaurant in England

Visited Beckfields on 15th August and had a very disappointing experience. While seated, an older female staff member abruptly came over and took my bottle of Lucozade from the table without saying anything. A few minutes later she returned it, claiming she had “put it in the bin.” If that was true, giving it back is unhygienic and unacceptable.

I understand pubs have policies against outside drinks, but in this case the Lucozade was for medical reasons — I occasionally need it to manage hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), as advised by my GP. This was not just a casual drink, but something I carry in case I start experiencing symptoms like dizziness or confusion.

Rather than speaking to me politely and with understanding, my drink was taken abruptly and handled in a way that raised serious hygiene concerns. The way she dealt with the matter was simply rude and unnecessary, and not what I would expect from a place that values its customers. This is disappointing as all of the other staff I have dealt with at Beckfields have always been friendly and welcoming. The Beckfields Big Thursday night Safe Cracker Quiz what a night, full house most nights best night by far at any event in our community, so well supported by all, Dave our quiz Master is amazing ensuring a fun night for all. Always best to book, Staff do an amazing job serving us all it’s a real community vibe something that is evermore needed. Long standing now and so well supported any imagine a Thursday night without the quiz now. The special party night like Xmas etc is amazing with the tables all set , we love it. Long may it reign, might well be just a public house but is the publics house too engage, share bringing all together, special it is for sure . We have a group page for quizzes who want to join. These community events are for us all, I go to Beckfields 7 days a week for meals it was the Quiz and Bingo and other events that introduced me and maintained my support, vital for all to engage, the necessity of engagement should never be overlooked. Ordered 4 meals extremely disappointing we have eaten these meals before albeit about 18 months ago. Waited 40 mins pub not busy at all Kids meal came out with no side order of garlic bread after 5 mins it came out. 99 p for 1 small slice of garlic bread. Ordered 2 sub meals advertised as wrap or sub the chicken was dry hardly any filling/mayo and in cold toast that had been under lights so it was very soft. Did look for someone but was busy serving. Portions a lot less than before and I can understand with prices and have no complaints about this but the quality quantity was terrible it’s gone downhill most definitely since our last visit. When plates cleared mentioned it and server said yes shoukd of been wrap or sub the chef’s new! Poor response
