Worst Customer Service Ever!!! Booked our table for a very special double birthday for two very special friends. Being regular customers of the Corner House, we purposefully booked our table two months in advance; and took the time to explain that it was a double birthday celebration. We arrived today to absolute chaos! Our table was not fully set, there was a chair missing, we were six people being pushed onto a table fitted for four people at best, and squashed so much into the corner that it was actually impossible to sit down without asking the guests at the tables on either side to stand up, walk away from their table, and provide space for us to move out the chairs and sit down. I took the waitress to one side and told her how devastated and disappointed I was. I told her I had booked the table two months in advance to ensure we could have a good table and celebrate the birthdays of our friends. I was absolutely appalled at how rude the waitress was; telling me that it didnât matter how long in advance I had booked, they were very busy and this was the only table available. I tried to explain that the whole point of booking in advance was to ensure that we secured a table that would sit the number of guests in the reservation and I was basically told; it doesnât matter, this is the only table we have available right now; take it or leave it! No apologies, no attempt to help; left standing in the middle of the upstairs dining room with our balloons and birthday presents; she walked away and ignored us!!! I was absolutely devastated, tears in my eyes - regular customers for years at this pub, table booked months in advance and nothing! As we walked out of the restaurant, the manager actually stood and watched us leave; he didnât even attempt to ask why we were leaving when we had just arrived for a table of six to have Sunday lunch?!! I called The Duchess of Cambridge pub on the High Street and made an appeal to Dan the Manager to help me. Within 15 minutes, we were sitting at a spacious table in the Duchess, with three waitresses taking care of our every need, and we spent 6 wonderful hours enjoying scrumptious food and the best service in Windsor. And I kid you not, the pub was heaving!!! But they helped us, they worked around it and by the time we walked to the pub, they had moved tables and chairs together to provide us with a wonderful space that was comfortable and relaxing! I will never ever return to The Corner House, but I will offer them some advice... ...I grew up working my Dadâs restaurant, and I hold true everything that he ever taught to me... ...When a customer books a table, they do so to secure a booking for their party... not to be disgraced and shunted in a corner with half the space required to enjoy their afternoon. The customer is always right, perhaps, Corner House, you should try thinking of your customers, and in this case, the ones have now lost! Giving them one star because that what it requires to post the review - they donât even deserve...
Read moreA pub I normally go to a few times a year but I will not return again due to th rudeness of the staff.
I visited on the last night before lockdown. Firstly, my friend had booked a table for the evening because we knew places would be busy, we wanted to eat and knew that we'd like to spend the rest of the evening there. When we arrived, we had been allocated a table for a 2 hour window and would then be expected to leave.
Secondly, on heading to the toilet, I forgot my face mask - an honest mistake on my part. A staff member shouted, quite aggressively, that I needed to wear a mask. I apologised, said I would go back upstairs to get it but noticed that she was wearing her mask partially over her chin and so it was not covering her nose; I asked her to wear her mask correctly if I was going to be expected to wear one. Her colleague, I assume the supervisor, rounded the corner at this moment and immediately told me, again quite firmly, to wear a mask. I explained that I was about to go upstairs to get it but that I was asking her colleague to wear her's properly. Her colleague then said that I was refusing to wear my mask which was simply not true. At this point, the supervisor said that I would have to leave the pub. At no point did either consider that I may be exempt from the mask wearing requirements and they were both aggressive in their behaviour towards me. Awful.
The pub was busy so I don't suppose they care but they cetainly lost ÂŁ100-150 of trade that night from me and my party. I will not be...
Read moreI had a rather enjoyable lunch here on a day out with family and friends. We arrived around lunchtime on a Monday, and it wasn't too busy which was good. I went for the Aged Burger at £16, but seen as it was "50% off mains Monday", I got it for £8! I was liking this place already! ;) The burger arrived and I was more than happy with it! The bun was light, soft and crispy...there was generous helping of BBQ brisket in the burger too, which I rather liked as it had this nice smokey sweet flavour to it. The burger itself was very flavoursome, which surprised me as was expecting more of a bland meat flavour...it was cooked a little bit pink which I like and had little bit of bite to it which I didn't mind either. Along with the Monterrey Jack cheese, gherkin, tomato and lettuce it was a great combination! This burger was right up my street! :D The fries were lovely and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and went down a treat with the burger! So, in Windsor and fancy some decent American styled pub grub? Then definitely give The Corner House a visit and I'm sure you'll enjoy it like I did!...
