The Cornhill — Restaurant in England

Popped in for a quick bite with the Mrs on a Sunday afternoon. After ordering our food my partner decided to change her mind on what she ordered. The chap at the bar who took my order quickly rectified this without an issue. 10 minutes later Kelli approached our table to inform us there was a mixup in the kitchen and only one meal was ready and would we like it now or wait for the other to be ready. We chose to have it as she only offered to keep it under a heat lamp (no thanks) When the meal arrived we noticed 2 items missing but she had scuttled away rather quickly and didn't catch her. When she returned with the second meal the same 2 items were missing. I complained about this and all she did was go on her walkie-talkie as walking away. No apology, no communication whatsoever. As my partner finished her meal and I was about halfway through mine, she appeared with the missing items. She then muttered "sorry about that" and walked off. So all in all, absolutely shocking customer service and we won't be returning. I suggest Kelli gets some customer service training, or changes her job as it's obviously not her...

Went here for lunch today. The first thing I noticed was the decor, which was tired and a little tatty; the seating was worn with large areas of torn fabric. But it was reasonably clean. We ordered food and drinks using the app. After 30 minutes we still hadn't even received our drinks. I went to the bar and drinks were supplied but without explanation or apology for the delay. After 55 minutes our food finally arrived with a polite apology for the delay. We had both ordered the gammon steak with chips, peas and onion rings. The chips looked very unappetising and were, in fact, cold and rubbery. The gammon was cold but tasted OK. The only item on my plate which was hot and well cooked was the onion rings. On a positive note the drinks were reasonably priced and the real ale was fresh. Overall, however, it was a a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning...

Oh dear. What a disappointment. The last time we came here it was great. How things have changed. You are recommended to use the App to order your food and drink so we did. Very easy to use. After ordering we waited about 20 minutes to be told that using the App the food would be about an hour! We should have ordered at the bar it would have been quicker! Then the first rip off. Ordered 2 large cokes. When they arrived there was so much ice that we estimate about a third of the glass was drinkable. (See photo) paid a lot of money for frozen water. Then when the food arrived it was almost thrown down. We asked for condiments and were pointed to a table next to us where a half filled condiment tray was placed. I wanted salt and there was none to be found. Eventually we were offered a salt pot with no lid! Unbelievable! (See photo). So very disappointed. Won't be going back...
