Super service from a young lady.
Exceptional food (the duck and veg), well presented, tasty Offshore pils
We had the creme brulee too.
We drove ~70 mins from Dunster.... We saw Bridgwater was on our way and zoomed into Google maps to see restaurant icons.
This was maybe the first place I checked the menu for and we both immediately agreed on the duck breasts.
There were two online menus £19.5 and £22.
On the door outside it was £19.5, at the table it was £22.
We were charged £22.
We'd love to have left a bigger tip than we did (at least £5 more) but we didn't see an option on the machine
We'd love to go back. Good music, loos were fine and the rest of the staff were great too. Decent food portion sizes too. We shared the delicious calamari to start with as well.
The best place to eat in Bridgwater, the best reason to visit Bridgwater (I'd like the difference between the duck prices to go to the waitress please)
{We didn't take photos on this occasion, the food was too good and...
Read moreThis is just your average small town diner. I could see why in a place with little choice, this would come up on top, but I would encourage you to spend your time and money elsewhere. The roast menu isn’t too bad, although you only get 2 slices of meat and a total of 2 potatoes and 2 (burnt and hard) parsnips. The cauliflower cheese was the star of the show though, very tasty. So was the gravy. I think what made the experience negative for me was that the staff was too busy chatting away than actually serving the tables and providing good service. No water was offered at any point during the meal, plates were still there when we left, the bill took forever to get to the table and it took us over 20 minutes to order. I would conclude saying that we were charged a “pitta with hummus and olives” without getting any of the hummus nor the olives cuz they ran out. Completely get it, but charging warm, 30p pitta as a whole course...
Read moreI visited yesterday. I didn't have a booking but I was early enough to get a table for Sunday lunch. This was one of the best meals I've had all year.
For starters I had Salt and Pepper Calamari with tartare sauce on mixed salad.
For the main I had pan roasted chicken breast with red wine jus & pig in a blanket, served with crispy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honey and thyme roasted parsnips, runner beans, carrots, broccoli and tiny sprouts. The main course was particularly tasty. The "pig" was a good quality sausage with good bacon and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and attentive and supplied extra gravy at no extra charge.
It was a really filling meal so I went for a long walk afterwards to burn up some calories.
If you are looking to eat out in Bridgewater then this restaurant should be high on your list. I would definitely eat there again if I'm...
