The Duke of Connaught — Restaurant in England

My family and I have just returned from our first and definitely not our last visit. I made the booking by phone and the gentleman that I spoke to was helpful and friendly. I have driven past so many times, seen the sign outside for Thai food but never ventured inside and I could kick myself for not going sooner. Inside is very much non-Thai, more gastro pub with perfect lighting and good old fashioned candles on the table. It's very calm with a very happy vibe. Not at all stuffy. The menu is quite small but I struggled to choose as i could have had everything. The wait was long but boy was it worth it. The food was so delicious and a hearty portion. The presentation was simple and the aromas simply wonderful. I couldn't wait to tuck in.... Absolutely scrumptious. The staff were so friendly in a genuine way, not over the top or cheesy, just really really nice people. The toilets were immaculate and the furnishing clean. All in all, if you want a really good Thai meal, freshly cooked with fresh ingredients in a very relaxed environment surrounded by nice people, this is the place to be. I can't wait to return. We went into this local pub on the off chance for some food, being 250 miles from home we did not know what to expect, although being in Windsor we were expecting a big bill. We entered the pub and the staff were immediately friendly, we began talking to the barmaid and she was so helpful. There were a few locals in having drinks and we ordered food. The food came pretty swiftly, cooked just right and tasted very good. We asked about the area what we could do with a 3 year old in the evening and the staff were very helpful. Showed the woman behind the bar a 25% off voucher for Greene King pubs and asked if it was accepted in that pub. The lady replied “yes we accept that here” in front of several witnesses. We brought several rounds for ourselves and friends because we were told my voucher was accepted. When paying for the bill, same lady informed us that they “don’t accept that voucher” and that “she thought that the voucher I was showing her on my phone was ‘my name’ so I could start a tab”.
