Fred and his awesome team never fail to knock it out of the park when it comes to their exquisite fish tapas / small plates, immaculate presentation and friendly service.
As locals, we’ve visited many times since they opened for business, and it’s one of our favourite places to dine in town. Returning time and time again for our fish-kick.
It’s a relaxed, informal, intimate dining experience - situated right on the harbour front so you can soak up that stunner of a view.
Fred, very focused on quality, freshness and sustainability, sources most of his produce from our local waters and does his upmost to work with what’s available.
His flair and obvious passion for producing well executed dishes with maximum flavour, without overpowering the delicate fish, is evident in each mouth watering bite.
If that wasn’t enough, his amazing front of house team are there to greet you with a smile, some friendly banter and offer great recommendations on wine pairing - of which they have many options - again doing their best to spot light local artisan makers.
Always uncompromising, always amazing, and if you adore exceptional fresh fish tapas, you’ll be in awe of this little gem of a restaurant, and its cheeky chef / owner Fred.
P.s. you can’t dine here without ordering a side of Fred’s spuds -...
Read moreWe visited Looe last week as part of our honeymoon, and sadly, our final evening was marred by a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. It really put a damper on what had otherwise been a fantastic week away.
I ordered the prawns without realizing they would be served in their shells. When the dish arrived, I politely asked if the prawns could be deshelled for me, as I feel uncomfortable removing the heads myself. Instead of accommodating this simple request, the waitress gave me a dismissive look and told me they couldn’t do it.
In the end, my husband kindly did it for me, but I was genuinely surprised that a restaurant charging £17–£23 for just two shelled prawns wouldn’t be willing to provide a bit of extra service—or at the very least offer to replace the dish. For those prices, I would expect the service to match the cost.
On top of this we weren’t offered refills of drinks at all and we waited ages for our table to be cleared.
If you’re looking for a decent restaurant in Looe I would spend your...
Read moreThis restaurant is in a great location right on the pier with fishing boats coming in and crabbers - so lots of interesting things to see. The food is good although there were a few thinbgs that could be improved. My son had the squid starter which was dissappointing - very tough and tasted frozen. I had the raw fish ceviche which was nice. For mains I had the Seafood bouillabaisse (£20) whith comes with prawns, gambas, scallops, squid and grilled fish on top. It was nicely done with great flavours in the base but the seafood was probably slightly overdone and the squid once again tough and not nice. My wife had the Cassoulet (£18) which was exceptional with a grilled fish on top. The fillet steak was excellent (£22)- perfectly done as was the Steak fillets. Wine was slightly dissap[ointing - the bottle of NZ white was anout £20 but tasted pretty cheap and nasty - something NZ wines dont normally do. We drink a lot of them so should know! So overall a good restaurant to visit whilst in Looe -...
