AWFUL. There wasn't an option to leave zero but I would like to leave this review for the so called 'best Pub in Bradford on Avon' It started off really well. Lady behind the bar was lovely..really attentive. bought our drinks over to the table. Gave us our menus. Bearing in mind we were the only 2 in the dining area, we waited a long time for our order to be taken. After a while we both ordered a Beef Wellington at £25.85. We were served bread and olive oil although we didn't order it. Then the main arrived. It looked good until we started to cut into it. There was so much sinew it was difficult to cut even with a steak knife. We called the Waitress over and for the Chef to come over. He didn't, but was seen talking at the bar. We were offered another Beef Wellington but we declined. We then tried to order a sweet but were kept waiting so long we decided to go to to he bar and express how disappointed we were. The Landlady was outside still talking with the chef and after waiting so long and when we confronted the Landlady about the service she had the audacity to say to me that she had taken the meals off of our bill. Bearing in mind she hadn't mentioned it at all before. Also she accused me of shouting at her! I was just expressing my frustration of a meal that would of cost us over £50! We will not...

This pub was very disappointing. Average food at above average price. Far too expensive for the quality of food. We ordered the Beef Wellington and 1 of the 2 Vegan options, asparagus & pea risotto. The Beef Wellington came with some sad looking basic veggies, a small cube of dauphinois potatoes, an individual piece of Wellington and some already poured jus. The Wellington is priced at a huge £26, so we expected this to be good. It wasn’t. The beef was so over cooked that is was grey and the pastry wasn’t golden at all. Fillet of beef should be cooked with care and should be blushing inside. We then told the staff and they offered something else. We went for a steak which again was £26. Weatherspoon's seem to do a better job a cooking steaks and seem to have better cuts. Again this was hugely disappointing. The vegan risotto was pretty lacking is seasoning and flavour. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to get some flavour going. A little bit of garlic and / or chilli would have gone a long way. If the price actually reflected the quality of the meal we wouldn’t have been so disappointed. It’s a lot of money for something that was less than average. The decor, atmosphere and staff...

What a lovely place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The people and the service are amazing, 10+ out of 10. Not only did they help get our luggage up the stairs, they found umbrellas for us to use on our outings, and were there at every turn for anything we might need. The bar staff are super friendly and the cook was amazing. Breakfast is the best I've had, and there were several menu items to choose from. We stayed in the small apartment and really enjoyed having a separate area to watch TV and relax. I would have given 5* all around, but the shower is tiny and my husband is not. The bathroom has been newly renovated, and there is so much space, it definitely warrants a larger shower. It should be mentioned that there are some really steep stairs. A few little extras in the kitchenette, like paper towels and a sponge, would have been nice.....I'm sure all I needed to do was ask. All in all, we loved our stay here. We actually tried to extend for another night, and although the room wasn't booked, for some reason they couldn't accommodate us. 😞 We would like to return again some day and spend more time with these wonderful people. They truly are...

What an amazing pub Beautifully decorated thoughout We booked a table of 9 for Sunday lunch and they were able to fit us in at very short notice The staff were extremely attentive and also able to accommodate our various food allergies and intolerances The meal was exceptional and probably the best roast dinner I have ever had! If I could give it 6 stars I would! I had the pork shoulder which was cooked to perfection, small strips of crackling, which were absolutely delicious. Vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire’s were exceptional! Excellent value at only £19 for the pork shoulder Others in our party had the roast beef which was beautifully cooked (medium rare) and also the half roast chicken with pigs in blankets. Will definitely be returning!

Our 3rd visit here - it is our 1st choice when we visit this area. Super food (we always dine on a Sunday lunchtime). Generous portions. Roast dinners for both adults and children were delicious. I enjoyed my seabass dish, which was perfectly cooked. We experienced lovely service, and our reservation was followed carefully. Local cider was an excellent recommendation. Fabulous atmosphere - very cosy in winter when we visit. Parking nearby is a challenge due to the narrow roads. NB: Some dishes can be tailored to be gluten-free, but most aren't coeliac friendly.
