Disappointing, very disappointing in fact. I have been to this pub before but we have a buffet of various things due to the occasion. This occasion was a happy one to celebrate my wonderful uncles 80th birthday. So you would think if you had a list of what people wanted it would make things a lot easier all round. So we have a party of approximately 18 people, most have pre -ordered. One person has a starter, which I had to take to the bar after it was finished as no waiter/ waitress came to collect it. Thought that would be a subtle hint we were ready for mains, as we had been sitting some time. So I had to go back to the bar to ask if are mains were coming. Things were looking up, food was on its way. How long or indeed how many times had the fish been cooked. I have never tasted such greasy fish and chips and thick stodgy mushy peas, the tarter sauce was brilliant, unfortunately there was more tarter sauce than fish by the time I had take the grease sodden batter off. Not at any point did a waiter or waitress come over to ask how our meal was, wonder why, because you wouldn't have eaten it yourself. My lovely cousin had gone to so much trouble to make this a surprise for her Dad.We had travelled from Kent and Surrey for this occasion. Yes someone got a small fish instead of a big fish and it was not your fault you offered to cook another small fish for them. Fantastic. Not wanting to upset my cousin or make a scene in front of my uncle we said nothing. Surely you must have noticed that a lot of the food was uneaten , yet you said nothing. By the way my uncle left his too. If your wondering why I have put five stars on here, its clear, nobody reads...

We decided to visit this place after hearing about their impressive “dirty food” options and the good variety on the menu. Unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, there was absolutely zero customer service or any understanding of hospitality.

The host, who seemed to be a manager, sat looking bored and barely acknowledged us. When we asked for a table, we were told to find an unreserved one ourselves, even though some reserved tables weren’t booked for another two hours. No menus were offered, and nothing about the food or desserts was mentioned.

We eventually found a table in a cold corner—though to be fair, the entire place felt freezing. We had to order at the bar, which was fine, but the lack of warmth in the service was glaring. The food arrived relatively quickly and was surprisingly great—big portions, full of flavor, and exactly the “dirty tray” we expected. But the staff’s lack of interaction overshadowed the food.

Nobody checked on us during the meal, asked how the food was, or even acknowledged us as we left. It felt like eating in a warehouse—get your food, eat, and leave. The team, all of whom seemed quite young, lacked basic social skills, which could likely be attributed to inadequate training.

For a £22 plate of food, I wasn’t complaining about the price, but I expected a much better overall experience, especially since we came for a sit-down meal, not a takeaway. Sadly, this visit was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend the place unless you’re okay with cold service and a lack of connection. I won’t...

Came here for dinner and had a really lovely time. It's a lovely building to be in, I've heard it's been refurbished and it really shows, such nice decor and really lovely areas to sit with drinks and eat. The staff were all very friendly, we came on a night where their card machines had gone down, they apologised but did warn before I ordered and luckily I had cash so all was good! I went for the steak chilli burrito. It was nice, although could have done with a little more flavour. I ended up adding some of my wife's fajita veg which enhanced it. The nachos that come with the burrito were really nice, very generous amount of food you get. My wife had the chicken fajitas and thought the chicken was fantastic, really well cooked. The veg was nice, although she found it a little weird that veg mix was a tomato base, not usual for fajitas. It was tasty, though, and had a good kick to it. Again, a generous amount of food and 2 very large wraps to make the fajitas with. We also had a side of curly fries, which were delicious! So, so moreish! I went for a staropramen for a drink, which was delicious. And my wife went for a South African sauvignon, which she really liked. Would recommend coming here. We will be...

Update: I gave this 2 stars a couple of years ago and was unlikely to return by choice ... however ... I did return (in a party of 8) last night, and it has improved immensely. New extension now means that it is a food place that serves drinks rather than a pub that serves food as it was previously. Love the Post Office lookalike room at the side that can be booked (see pictures). Menu expanded and now includes some more standard fare such as steak and a fantastic fish and chips. Service, was pleasant and fast, pricing is reasonable compared with other eateries in the same area. The new extension has been built with care and provides a quality addition to the pub. Can be a bit noisy when full, but to be fair it is really only the sound of people enjoying themselves so difficult to make it a complaint. Just beware if you are a little hard of hearing, there may be quite parts of the pub if you ask. Now a RECOMMENDED venue for food. The only downside is probably the car parking, but because of the enclosed area, I am not sure there is much they can do about that.
