I used to frequent this pub regularly and it was once a shining example of British pub culture—a true cornerstone of the community. Unfortunately, my recent visits over the past two weeks have been deeply disappointing. The transformation of this establishment is startling, and not in a good way. The staff, who used to be welcoming and professional, are now rude and unprofessional.
Just yesterday, I witnessed an appalling scene where one of the main bartenders was shouting at three waitresses in full view of paying customers. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that prides itself on its history. It’s clear that management has lost control and that professionalism has been thrown out the window.
Additionally, the atmosphere has become anything but relaxing. On several occasions, I’ve tried to catch up on work emails after business meetings, only to be interrupted constantly by staff to order more, creating an uncomfortable environment.
What’s perhaps most disappointing is the direction they've taken with the menu and ambiance. The pub has been awkwardly converted into a tacky imitation of an Indian restaurant. It feels like it’s trying to cater to drunk patrons who want a novelty experience rather than offering quality food and a pleasant atmosphere. If you're genuinely craving Indian food, there are far better, more authentic options nearby.
Overall, this place has lost all the charm and character that once made it special. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a quiet evening or catch up with friends, I recommend supporting one of the many other local establishments that still respect their customers and...
Read moreOkay where to start fathers day made booking for this place now I grew up in toddington went to Luton University my parents still live in toddington. Since 1999 when it was called brookes I came here so nice brilliant place. I left got married in 2012 my last time I came here is 2009 i live in Hertfordshire. Now since yesterday I rang as I made booking but I remembered about the car park so I wanted to ask if the car park is full where else can I park. 3 different people one being slok can't spell his name said there is metro bank parking okay so is it free on Sunday he didn't know. The girl I spoke to yesterday correctly said she is new to the area doesn't know. However the owners are the ones with restaurants club 2000 and arch in wembley with both I been to. The fact no one has clue about parking or parking amenities is so bad not to say bad for customers if you are trying to attract customers its logic that anyone would ask about all facilities for the restaurant what if I bought my grandmother who can walk but not much how can accommodate to that. Now main BIG THING BEING INDIAN GUJARATI YOU ARE SERVING BEEF IS BEYOND A JOKE COMPLETELY AS IT GOES AGAINST FAITH RELIGION CULTURE AND SPIRTUAL VALUES SO I RANG THEM AGAIN SAID NO TO CANCEL COS NO ONE HAS IDEA ABOUT PARKING SHE THEN SAID "HOW WOULD WE KNOW ABOUT OTHER PARKING" HOW IN GODS EARTH U WILL ATTRACT CUSTOMERS IF YOUR CAR PARK IS FULL MY GOSH NO PLEASE GIYS DO NOT COME EVEN ARCH WAS FIRST TIME OVER PRICED THIS PLACE AS WELL NO WONDER...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews and having been a patron of Club 2000 for many many years, the decision was made to come to The Red Lion.|What a mistake that was, I’d never return nor recommend. Arrived to a nice venue, seemed pleasant enough, took a seat at our table and looked through the menu. Waitress soon attended but only after we had to ask for one and that was after waiting 10 minutes. Ordered 4 drinks and chilli mix with a couple of popodoms.|10 minutes mix arrived, no drinks get, few minutes later, popodoms arrived and yet no drinks. Only after 20 odd minutes and again only as we asked, the drinks finally arrived.|Popodoms, amazed there was any oil left in the fryer! The chilli mix, it was ok although no seasoning at all.|Then proceeded to order betavada and crispy bhajia, both took forever and a day.|Crispy bhajia were rank, overfried with no seasoning, the potato’s had been soaked in lemon, the sourness was not good.|The betaveada were even worse, lumps of potato, no seasoning or taste.|The chutneys, the green coriander one was vile, just coriander with some water!|The waitress was not professional at all, not courtesy, was not happy being there. Staff in general were not attentive at all.|We called it a day thereafter, would not trust trying anything else, shame Club 2000 does not send its staff and cooks over as I doubt this place will last if it carries...
